yeah its kinda in bad taste, but she was selfish, she knew this would happen, people tried to help her, and now her loved ones are left hurting because she couldn’t get her shit together

Addiction is more than a matter of getting your shit together, with all respect to your opinion on the matter. Some people can overcome it, and some can’t. Some people are more disposed to addiction as well. I don’t think it’s a phenomenon you can simplify. Saying she needed to get her shit together is like suggesting addiction is the equivalent of not paying your credit card bills on time or something
For my part I enjoyed some of her music. It’s too bad she died.

She had it coming TD54. I am sure the parents already knew the ending not just the timing of it. It is sad but If I saw my daughter like that and did all I could possibly do, to include me sacrificing myself for her and still not see a change one can only do so much. If your religious than she’s in a better place fellow friends.
None of this changes the fact that it is a tragedy and people here are joking about it. To me it’s sad that, as i said, someone lost their daughter today. Joke about murderers and child rapists dying, but not a girl who had an unfortunate drug addiction.
You might want to re-check the definition of tragedy. And I don’t think most people are joking about it, mostly just pointing out it was gonna happen soon enough
Certainly there are much worse “tragedies” than some 27 year old addict dying. I’m not denying that. Though i still find it sad when a human dies before their time (assuming they weren’t a murderer or rapist etc…)
And people are definitely joking about it bro. Read the thread again lol.
“Well, the “Forever 27” gang just got it’s newest member. I’m calling it now, Bieber dies the day before he turns 28…”
“Winner winner chicken dinner: LarryDavid, dk44, Wormwood Theory”
“I guess she really wanted to be a part of the 27 Club.”
These people aren’t joking around?
Sad does not equal tragedy.
And yes, some jokes were made. Some in bad taste and some that simply state the truth in and slightly less than dull way
The best joke I heard was “They tried to make me go to rehab but I saidTHUD.”

Honestly it’s not that big of a deal and i don’t really care. It just seems distasteful to be joking about someones death. If she was your sister you wouldn’t be joking about her drug use saying “she had it coming” or “i guess she just really wanted to join the forever 27 gang”
It IS distasteful, but I’m ultimately disinterested. People all over the world died today; Her death is no less or more than the others. People die, babies are born. And so it continues…we are all dying, some just sooner than others.
To atone for my joke:
Farewell sweet butterfly snowflake, you had the voice of an angel and you were too good for our world. No one understood your pain sweet innocent delicate blossom. heaven is now more superawesome with you teaching the angels new beautiful melodies of sweet beatifullness,

And someone’s son died in Hitler’s bomb shelter, to go all Godwin on you.
My response to Winehouse (other than jumping on the Bieber meme with what I hoped might add a small amount of humor to the situation) is to think “sad, but utterly predictable”.
When videos of her last performance in Serbia emerged, many, myself included, saw it as a last cry for help. That she should have been allowed by her band and managers to go on stage in her state, that it might hopefully be a big-assed sign from ghod to her and those who loved her. My exact words (in another forum): “I’m only hoping that this is her rock bottom. If it’s not, she’s not long for this world.”
Sucks to be right sometimes.
We don’t know the specific cause of death, though overdose seems highly plausible. As with the Oslo situation, full results will take time. But something withing that woman was horribly broken, and very, very self-destructive.
In Greek tragedy, the real tragedy isn’t the sad ending, but the inevitability of it.
Or as the Cowboy Junkies put it (“Bea’s Song”):
But if there’s on thing in my life
That these years have taught
It’s that you can always see it coming
But you can never stop it
I don’t disagree with anything you said. Do you disagree with something i said? Your post confuses me
I still find it impossible to feel any sympathy for her.

Note the quoted element.
Perhaps your “you guys” was overly broad? Shrug.
We’re all someone’s offspring. Winehouse chose her fate, if you believe in free will, or had it chosen for her, if you believe in addiction. Or something in between if your world has shades of grey.
I think I’ve already expressed all I can on this. I’ve got a friend who’s probably heading down a similar spiral, another friend who just lost someone in circumstances similar to Winehouse’s.
Life’s a bitch.
We can learn, cry, laugh, taunt, or whatever. And you can’t control what or how I (or anyone else) responds, though you’re more than welcome to try if you insist.
Without being fatalistic about this (I think there’s a realm of free will), none of this, including the obvious responses, yours included, is surprising in the least.
Which is part of what compounds the sadness and tragedy of it all in my eyes.
Dog out.

Like Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley before her, it wasn’t a matter of IF AW would OD… It was WHEN will she OD.

Courtney Love paid to have Kurt Cobain murdered. Go read “Who killed Kurt Cobain” by Ian Halperin if you doubt this to be fact.
RIP Amy Winehouse

Heres the depressing part, even though she was an addict and a loser…she was amazingly talented. I dont even really like Jazz or Blues but her songs are actually great.

I’m surprised he outlived her.
She was definitely talented, what a waste.
The only cool way to die young is in a sports car like James Dean. The best way to die in old age is to blow your brains out with a shotgun like Hemingway. That’s my theory anyway.
I nominate tha Carter a.k.a Lil Wayne a.ka. Weezy f Baby as the next celebrity musician casualty.
Folks can’t handle their drugs, it be what it be, mayne.
i’ve never heard of this woman

Love controlled every aspect of her life. Including her husband. If she didn’t have him killed, he took himself out to escape her clutches. She’s a self-serving bitch.
However, she made 2 kick-ass rock albums.
Amy Winehouse? Any death is sad, but her’s was not unexpected. I do hope she’s at peace now.
evil courtney love. ugh. it’s sad about winehouse losing her life to addiction. she claimed it, though. her songs were the truth. she said she’d rather keep doing what she was doing without other people trying to stop her; her horrible relationships and the drugs.
Addiction is not a disease. There I said it.
I have the same sympathy for her as I do people who make themselves fat and die of heart disease or diabetes.
