American's Get a Life

and I get so tired of hearing pothead talk about how less damaging pot is. The potheads I know don’t have a job, live on welfare, breed kid after kid, and complain that the world is out to get them.

and it isn’t a “fundamental disagreement”, I am fine with pot being illegal. I don’t care. I have other issues with things I think should be legalized or not banned, pot isn’t one of them.

It is illegal, my point is that it shouldn’t be, and that if you want to demonize someone for consuming a substance, there are legal ones that are far worse than THC/cannabis.

I don’t consume pot in any form. Your characterization is baseless. If you want to meet a better class of pot smoker, move out of the trailer park.

Yes it is a fundamental disagreement. Some people think it should be legalized and some people don’t, despite knowing and agreeing with all of the facts about the issue. That is the definition of the term. It’s not a fundamental disagreement with you because you seem to know nothing about that which you speak. My apologies for giving you more credit than you were due.

wow… and you got personally insulting, I am not sure why you felt that was necessary.

and you don’t get what I meant by fundamental disagreement. You stated it as if it was universal. It isn’t. I don’t care. It isn’t even an argument about rights as some folks want to try and use that characterization.

the point is, it is illegal. You want it changed then sign a petition, take it to your local government, get it sponsored, get the Bill moving to the hill.

I wasn’t demonizing him for smoking pot, but I do think he’s an idiot for being a very bad decision maker.

now do you have some more mud you want to sling?

Do you Canadians feel the same way?

Being Canadian is like living in the apartment above a really cool party, and you’re not invited.

You never fail to deliver!
Too right.

I don’t mind because I’m not invited to any parties here either. I’m excluded wherever I am. It wouldn’t be too bad if I could roll my own but I can’t. Man, this sucks.

Party at the squat rack @ goodlife, you’re invited!

Remember to leave plates on the bar for Court.

I don’t get it, pot is illegal in Canada, why is stoner dad banging on the US?

and again, Phelps is a public figure for kids.

Dad on drugs can do what he wants, but should children be encouraged to light up?

Children are their parents’ concern. Not mine. And if the government is so worried about little Johnnies and Susies across the nation then it should make alcohol and tobacco illegal and raise the driving age to 21.

But Phelps wasn’t endorsing beer, he was endorsing a cereal aimed for consumption by children.

that is the argument, don’t push this on to something he wasn’t connected with, he wasn’t endorsing tobacco or alcohol.

and, Kellogs has a right to choose who they want. Marketing is a popularity game. If he’s still a popular figure, he is still marketable.

but for right now, pot is illegal which means he’s also an idiot for being caught.
I personally think the problem is making sports figures hero?s they are just normal people. Maybe we should make egg heads hero?s
I do not think Phelps an idiot, I think he is human. If I have any negative feelings toward Phelps is that he did not say Marijuana should be legal. If everybody that felt that way did so, it would be legal

The pot heads you know are the one’s who suck at hiding it. You know all those guys on wall street? The big shots who run a large portion of our industry? The techies who’re bringing us to the new millennium of cyber-fun and beyond? The actors, musicians and artists who entertain us?

Yeah. A very large portion of those guys smoke marijuana and they’re doing just fine.

Smoking is like watching TV. Do a little bit of it and its a great thing. Do way to much and you’re a lazy slob. It is NO different than any other time consuming, non-productive activity.

no… I would be on welfare, having lots of babies and unemployed, living in a trailer park with none of my lights on

but I would not be a mud wrestler

but maybe… I would have been an Olympic swimmer

now I will never know

I took your characterization of potheads as a personal attack. If you didn’t mean it that way, then my apologies for the nastiness in my response. I don’t like to get personal but I felt it was quid pro quo at that point.

oh please. You said you aren’t a pothead and you don’t smoke pot. Don’t even bother.

And what I said about potheads wasn’t bad, it is just the ones I know.

How is pot being illegal of any benefit?

I don’t understand when you say “As far as when have sports figures not been American, I do not know.”

I wasn’t sure what you were saying there.

What I said was that throughout history people have idolized oustanding athletic performance. In all cultures. All cultures… every one. Whether that was the Olympics, Mongolian horse racing, Martial arts, ice running, axe throwing, skull soccer, … fans abound. Heroes are made, people idolize and emulate.

it just happens. Not to everyone, not everyone likes the same thing, but it is what cultures do.

again, I don’t care if it is illegal, but currently it is.

I am sorry, I meant American Heros.
My statement about finding another kind of hero was maybe you would find another type of person
My statement about drugs are we spend millions of dollars to keep drugs off of the streets, what benefit have we got when you can still buy any drug you want.
Beowolf wrote:

Yeah. A very large portion of those guys smoke marijuana and they’re doing just fine.
You didn’t seriously just use that as a reason TO legalize did you. You were kidding right? Let’s just stick to the doctors and lawyers and artists and musician as a “good” example.

This is a good point though.

I would much rather steroids be legalized and I was surprised to learn about single amino acids being verbotten.

It just is a bad thing and now B6??? craziness

but I just don’t have enough passion regarding the legalization of pot to make a fight for that.

But all the folks on here that are up in arms can certainly make use of their rights and spend some time gather signatures and putting in some work to get their pot legalized.

I was under the impression that most outstanding individuals have groupies or fans. Even small counter culture heroes have fans. I just am not aware of things. I mean I keep hearing about women that go to cop bars just to have sex with cops, now… I only do that with firemen, or powerlifters, or men in kilts
