American Companies Caving to Chinese Censorship

Probably shouldn’t be but multiple posts claiming we’ve got a bunch of people against Hong Kong in here while no one even suggested such a thing in the thread before he posted it is a little much even for him.

Sounds just like the US!

It’s hard to know what each individual Chinese citizen thinks, I only know the ex-patriots I have spoken to and what they say.
The idea that most Chinese are happy with the government is the messaging China sends out. I don’t believe China, at all.
I am sure there are complacent Chinese, but we really don’t know what people en masse, think about the Chinese government and we aren’t going to know because there is no way to find out.

Which makes it sound odd. They are not free people and it’s in there best interest to nod and smile. America is way different from China. America, is in fact, the outlier culturally and politically speaking.
Most countries are like each other than they bare any resemblance to the US.
It’s weird to talk to people who have never been out of country. They think the world are just different shades of the US when it’s the total opposite.

Who’s doing the whining now?

Just how big is your ass? Because you always manage to pull something out of it.

You just admitted to whining.

Whines about Trump talk, says poster love China with zero evidence, then says someone is whining about pointing out how stupid his posts have been.

Just another day in Pat land I guess.

I thought my tongue in cheek comment was obvious. I also think dt has shown your knowledge of China could use some brushing up on.

You are confusing not giving a fuck with feeling oppressed. If my apartment value goes up 5 times in less than 10 years because the government starts developing infrastructure around the area, you think I care about not being able to criticize the government on social media?

THANK YOU!!! I’ve been wanting to say something like this since reading the thread but didn’t want to start a flame war

“China is ASSHOLE!”

You are entering the minds of 1.2 billion Chinese and pretending you know what they actually think. You don’t know, you cannot know. Do you have an antenna that allows you to enter the minds of all the Chinese people?
Dissent is illegal, they cannot express it, therefore nobody knows how they feel about the government.
I know what I heard in discussions I had with Chinese ex-pats, that they hate the Chinese government. And they say that the people they knew in China did not like the Chinese government. Maybe they are wrong, maybe they are right, I figure they know better than I.
You cannot read minds and neither can I. Don’t act like your right on something that is impossible to know for sure.
Why don’t you go to your local Chinese joint and ask them why they are here. More than likely they will say “China is Asshole!”

Pat can’t read minds then proceeds to read minds.

Oh, please. You’re acting like people don’t have normal conversations in their everyday lives. Of course they whine about government issues. That doesn’t mean they want a change in regime.

Of course it’s impossible to know for sure. We’re going by a balance of probabilities here.

I don’t need to do that. I’ve been doing business in China for over a decade. I bought property there several years ago. My wife is from China. I have close local Chinese friends. They will probably laugh at your view of how people live in China today.

Why don’t you tell him how oppressed you are. Remember the time you posted a Winnie the Pooh meme and the Red Guards dragged you out in the middle of the night and threw you in the niu peng?

Do you mean “expatriates,” or former patriots?

Anyone else been interrogated for thinking anti- communist thoughts? Those cameras have mind reading technology now…
