I spend too much time writing on t-nation as it is. What’s left is filled up with work, family and activities. I don’t live under a rock, but day-to-day national political news isn’t something I spend that much time on. It’s almost like the Kardashians at this point, and there’s so much bias and nonsense to wade through that I don’t find it worth my while. Occasionally a topic catches my attention and I dive into it, like Covington Catholic. For the record, THAT got me mad.
Otherwise I just observe what I observe and probably get roughly 90 percent of my Trump information from scrolling through whatever threads pop up on this site. I read local news most days, or at least scan it for stuff that draws my attention.
You’re welcome, and thank you too. I wouldn’t bother responding to you if I didn’t enjoy the exchange.
Apology accepted and please accept the good intentions I wrote my posts with. I’ve gotten carried away before too and I appreciate it when I get called out.
Why is it hard to believe that you don’t give Trump much thought, @twojarslave? (sigh) I’ll tell you why.
Somehow you live and travel in circles that give you all of these amazing insights on the Left…from their hypocritical tactics to their influence on inner cities and the U.S. as a whole…
And from the inherent hypocrisy of the NFL, NBA and NBA coaches…and the social-political influence of the Left worldwide.
Yet when it comes to Trump?
Nothing-burger…you don’t spend your time knowing anything much about him because you have more important things in your Life.
So…let me rephrase my original point;
You most likely don’t give Trump much critical thought. If you said that, I would agree.
You’re always free to believe whatever conclusions you’d like to draw about people from their comments or lack thereof. People do it all the time and it is, after all, a recurring theme in this thread.
I did give Trump critical thought at one point, which was when I had to choose between voting for Trump, voting for Clinton, or voting for someone who would never be President. In fact, I’ve given quite a lot of thought about why I should consider voting for anyone in the Democratic field. Far more than I have to Trump or any of his tweets.
Again, this is largely a byproduct of my choice of topics to pursue. I don’t have an agenda here. T-Nation is where I speak frankly, if I choose to speak. My public social media isn’t nearly as colorful as my account here. It’s actually pretty boring, just your run-of-the-mill friends and family pictures and occasional posts about jiu jitsu training events I host in my basement.
Once again, you’re making conclusions about me in your own head. I’ve never once put forth the idea that I’m anything other than just some guy sharing his opinion of what he’s observed. Isn’t that what we all are here? Yes, I have taken the time to look into the problems in Chicago. I grew up an hour away from Chicago. I still read Chicago news sometimes, especially if a friend from Chicago brings something to my attention. I’ve considered everything I can and concluded that many of the problems are man-made via policy, then gone on to back those opinions up.
Yes, I found a Typhus outbreak in the United States in 2019 to be alarming and worthy of comment. Yes, yes, I know. I’m sure there’s some Republican policies somewhere that end up producing a Typhus outbreak. I can’t think of any, but I’m sure an example can be provided.
Yes, I found it problematic when a multi-billion dollar media machine was unleashed on some teenage kids who grew up just like I did and did nothing wrong. I found that worth my time to comment on and process my thoughts.
I don’t care if you disagree with my opinions, but don’t try to paint me as if I’m coming from a bad place. I realize this is an easy thing to do when you believe in your ability to read other people’s minds and know their intentions, but please just try to understand where I’m coming from.
And here we are, back to the same place we keep coming to. You sure are ready to explain my motivations for the amount of time I think needs to be Trump Time.
I can only wonder what might have been. It was a really busy night. One minute you’re hexing the President, hoping for the best. The next minute the witches are gone, along with your hopes and dreams for the evening.
My friends in China would probably vote for Trump just to see the LEFT cry if I transplanted them to the US right now. You fellows have a lot more in common than you think.
I’ve known Chinese people who have transplanted, because of the government there. I know we’ll have tons in common, number one we detest communism in all it’s forms.
They didn’t kill all dissent in Tiananmen Square. The Chinese people do what every other citizen does in oppressive governments, they shut the fuck up because they don’t want to languish away in a prison camp.
So it’s impossible to poll the Chinese and get what they really think, therefore I have to deal with those who were there and now here. Yes it’s hearsay and yes it’s 3rd party, but according to those people, pretty much the majority of China hates the government, but they are too scared to say anything.
It’s understandable that there are some supporters, who usually have prominent positions.
I’d be willing to bet, that if a true, unfettered democratic election were to take place in China, the communists would be out on their ass. But you won’t have that there because they don’t allow it. And they instill a proper amount of fear so you won’t complain.
Hong Kong wants independence. I don’t know what the end game is. Are the Chinese going to roll over them in tanks? Will people get tired of protesting after a few people get killed? Or will China cave? I doubt number 3.
My guess is while the situation is hot China will stay back, when the world gets distracted, in come the tanks many will be killed and the rest arrested, never to be heard from again.
Nope. They like Xi Jinping. It depends on which generation you are talking to. People over 50 hate the government because of fear.
People under that age support the CCP but hate the systemic corruption. Xi Jinping did a widespread anti-corruption campaign that looked like it worked. That’s why the Chinese like him.
Also, people don’t really care for democracy when they’re seeing rapid economic growth.
They just want a strong leader who will take care of the economy and shut the guys crying for democracy up.
You make some good points. But we are both just guessing, really because there is no way to really know.
Any media production associated with China will have Chinese propaganda in it. You don’t have to convince me of that. But are the subliminal messages enough to sooth the burn? I simply don’t know.
As to the Hong Kong government taking military action, now that would be interesting. America does not want war with China, I know that much. It won’t be an Iraq, Afghanistan or even a Vietnam, we’d see that war with our own eyes. It would be an epic bloody affair.
What “burn”? China is relatively stable. People are busy earning a living, watching their soaps on TV, buying property, talking about who’s going to win China Idol, getting higher education, playing video games, watching the NBA, waiting for the next Marvel movie. They don’t give a fuck about politics. The online mob you see are the more vocal ones out of a 1.4 billion population.
My post was the shit you pulled out of your ass to say multiple times that the posters here are supporting China. You didn’t just do it in one post. You actually have direct evidence in this thread of the opposite and yet you still acted like we’re a bunch of Chinese bootlickers. Your faux outrage making that up is the same as your outrage at others pointing out who’s actually doing the bootlicking.
We pointed out powerful people who aren’t standing up to China in this thread and you whined about it. Then proceeded to say it’s us who are on their side.
That’s the same unspoken grand bargain Putin struck with the Russians in the 2000s and the Law and Justice Party did in Poland in 2010s.
Economic growth, access to consumer goods, cheap all inclusive vacations, reduction of violent crime all in exchange for keeping your head down. And people are fine with that.
Regimes such as these fall on mundane matters, not grand ideologies.
