Hi Guys Ive been looking over this section of the forum latley and am really interested in Jim’s 5/3/1 training routine but am just wondering if I am ready to start it or not.
For the last 6 months I have been working on gaining strength in the big lifts and so far these are my personal bests:
Deadlift - 100kg for 4 reps
Squat - 75kg for 3 reps
Bench Press - 65 for 5 reps
OHP - 45kg for 5 reps
Weighted pullups - 15kg for 5
At a height of 6’2, weight of 71kg and age of 16
Like I said I would appreciate any advice you would have Jim on starting the program, or any other guys on the forum and also what how much assistance work and such.
Thanks in advance
Thanks for the reply Adrian do you or anyone else suggest any particular variation such as boring but big?
I would preferably like something with lower volume as I am already doing alot of sprint training and basketball
You can’t go wrong w/ BBB.

I would recommend any of the templates with FSL work and/or the NOV/Train like a MF. You can also tweak (or use) the Never Peak Again.
Thanks Jim and Granite Jack! I really appreciate the replies the Never Peak Again template sounds like it could work nicely and will look into it further.
Thanks again for the replies and I will be sure to post some updates on my progress!
Good luck and I look forward to hearing about it!
