Am I a Type 2b?

Hi Chris,

Been reading your articles about the neurotyping system for a while, and I think I’m type 2b, but sometimes I tend to have mixed characteristics so I’d like to hear your take on this.

Using other users’ previous topics as a template, I’ll list my traits when it comes to training, nutrition, and life.

Training:

  1. My training HAS to be centered around mind muscle connection and exercises/rep ranges that allow me to feel the muscle contracting
  2. Haven’t gone lower than 8 reps in a while, although I did enjoy going heavier on some exercises in the past (namely those I was able to feel the muscle despite the heavy weight)
  3. I tried doing explosive work in the past, as well as high pulls, but I didn’t like them because even then I was trying to initiate the movement by contracting the target muscle and it didn’t work very well (wasn’t focusing on the synergy between muscles)
  4. If the session is going well and I get a pump, I’ll stay motivated till the end even if everything’s hurting and I’m fatigued, whereas I tend to give up if I don’t do well in the first sets
  5. I rarely do new exercises. Even when I switch programs, I usually keep the same exercises (rarely do “special” exercises because I don’t like spending time learning them when I already know how to do effective ones)

Nutrition:

  1. I love carbs. Even when dieting, I feel much better going low fat than low carbs.
  2. I find it hard to get all my good fats in (despite eating lots of fish, eggs, and olive oil) when gaining weight, but I find no problem whatsoever in gettin in my carbs
  3. I eat pretty much the same exact meals everyday. I don’t feel the need for variation if I’m already eating what I like. I’ll only vary from time to time if I have a craving (pasta or smash potatoes instead of rice, that I eat everyday, for example)

Life:

  1. I’m an extrovert, and when in public I appear very confident, although I’m REALLY prone to anxiety.
  2. I stress a lot over things and in the past I even developed sleep problems because of this
  3. I usually enjoy being with my group of close friends when out, but at the same time I like being in larger groups with strangers, as long as I feel like I’m in control and welcomed
  4. I tend to get emotional easily and I’m hard-tempered. I get loud easily when I lose it.
  5. I obsess over things easily and often get lost in the minutia. I’m also a very introspective person, sometimes way too much, and this often leads me to feeling unhappy.

This should be all. If you have any questions to ask, of course I’ll be very glad to answer.

Also, any feedback based on this profile that I outlined is very much appreciated.

Thank you!

I’m almost sure too, but would still like to hear Chris’ take…

I’m giving a seminar all weekend. My brain is just fried and after talking neurotyping for 7 hours I need a break

Yeah that is a perfect example of 2B. I don’t even see where you see “mixed traits” you don’t have any. This is a pure a 2B as you will find.

The ONLY non 2B trait that you have is being more extroverted, but the anxiety and stress does confirm that you are a 2B. 2Bs are “situational introverts”: meaning that when they are among people they know or in situations they are comfortable in, they will be extroverts and be fun because they want people to like them. BUT when they are in a situation they are not comfortable in, or with people they don’t know, they become more introverted.

Thank you for the answer.

The traits I perceived as “mixed” were those related to anxiety—I am prone to being VERY anxious and even something very small can make me feel uncomfortable or even sad. I thought they’d be more type 3 traits.

About my post in the other thread, I apologize about making you look bad, that wasn’t my intention.

I was just a little frustrated because of the 10ish threads I posted here over the past months, I recall maybe getting 1 or 2 of them answered. At first I thought I might’ve been asking silly questions, but then I started to wonder…

2B are also anxious… not as much as 3, but still prone to anxiety.

From least to most anxious:

1A — 1B — 2A — 2B — 3

2B are the second most prone to anxiety
