I don’t like you right now. I just tore off my Hello Kitty fanny pack and pink capris and threw them across the room, my LAX ball was flushed down the toilet and on a scale of Alpha to Zulu I’m feeling about Whiskey right now.

i feel like I have the PR flu today…kind of like a dump truck ran me over a few times…Power Drive is hopefully healing my CNS as we speak…Today is going to consist of rest, sleep, Ninja turtles, batman and a couple drinks…I may have underestimated a couple…only time will tell…

Quick Question:

A while back told you I was kinda taking your lead on how you set-up your workouts on how you feel and what you think will be tough as shit. So I have been doing that but I am kind of focusing on my main lifts (squats, DL, and bench press) at the beginning then coupling the other stuff in behind there. The only problem with this is on DL day my back is so taxed that I have a hard time getting anything else done. Do you find that when you couple other workouts with your DL it helps you get more volume in on that day, or do you think I should just stick with what I’m doing and once I have made the strength gains I want to then start to make changes?

Alpha,

When writing your workouts, do you designate certain movements as ā€œassistanceā€ and others as ā€œmax effortā€ type lifts? (usually barbells are done max effort style and dumbbells and bodyweight are done as assistance.)

Or is everything pretty much treated the same?

Gebaker: Well man, I would say it depends on how it has been working out for you…If you are still consistently getting stronger than i would keep going with what you have set up right now for a little while longer, but if you are not than i would try changing it up…

I can definitely relate on what you said about having trouble getting other stuff done on DL day though…My DL and Squat days are by far the hardest days for me to figure out what else to throw in there without hindering my main lifts and yet still get the volume on other body parts. As you know I like to use antagonistic muscle groups in the same plan of movement for the other half of my giant sets, but it is really hard to find one for the DL. That is what a lot of the time I will either do something similar (DB Squngs or SLDL) or something totally different (Cleans or Over head squats)…

Mateus: Yea man, i have no idea why…I am obviously loyal to Biotest and will continue to use their products (i have spent something ridiculous like 5k here since i joined)…but then protecting their brand IS what allows us all to get these great free articles, and allows us to have these forums, so I cannot complain too much!


Animal mother: Well, firstly, other than when i am Maxing out (like right now), i NEVER go to failure, i always leave 1-2 reps in me…I think this keeps my CNS a little happier with me and allows me to train more often…as Opposed to right now when I am trying to break all of these PR’s. i will be so happy to be done with it/ Although fun to see what i can do, my volume is way down and the exhaustion of my CNS just makes me feel like I have the flu all of the time…That said…

I am going to write up a whole thing on how I come up and design my programs because I get asked this a lot.I need top write up a new program to start next week, so i will also explain how i do as i go. I will post both just as soon as I get back…You ask great questions man! Keep it up, it gives me something to pontificate upon so that this log does not become boring! -Well, Today will be my last maxing out DL day, we will see how it goes…I already beat my previous PR, but i am still trying to up that number…I know it is my form that is holding me back, but other than you guys, I don’t have anyone is person that is telling me what I could be doing better…They just stare at me and say, )yes this is a quote from the other day), ā€œDude…you are like retard gorilla strongā€¦ā€ as touching as that was, it does not make a 700lb DL any closer.

-Deads: I suck…That is like the 4th week in a row trying that crap and missing every time…it just shows that i am not taking the time the rest of the year working on trying to get better at this…here is the vid…if you have suggestions for what I am doing wrong please let me know…

I have PLENTY of strength to lift this…It feels like I am just man handling it up instead of using my bodies natural levers…i need a new place to lift where there are some good people who can critique me…

What do you think of having Dave or Wendler over at EliteFTS take a look at a few of your vids? I joked before that you’re like Wendler on crack but not for nothing, you two are pretty damn similar in strength. He has mor tats of course…

As far as sleep or lack thereof, ZMA around 5-6 pm and I get my 8 hrs no problem. I also make sure not to do cardio or weights after this point either.

Is there anything your tumor is doing that you can definitely see or feel? And you mentioned something about kidney damage. From MMA or something from childhood, etc? Just curious bro. Won’t be offended if you don’t want to answer that.

Hey man gutted about the deadlift, but good job on the maxes on the other lifts. Also you mentioned about never going to failure unless maxing out. Now I want to max out my lifts before October when I start my second year of university. Would you suggest not going to failure till nearer the time to make sure I don’t compromise recovery and overload my CNS? As always I am grateful for any advice.
