I read your article regarding the alpha-stim which I found very interesting. You mentioned it requires a doctor’s prescription. I recently found this device on the internet which does not. Do they seem comparable? It seems they do when looking at the technical specs. They do provide a 30 day money back guarantee on the product. The mode of action seemed to be the same. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
I don’t remember the details offhand, but it takes a very precise waveform to get the results you need. Most knock-off products don’t have this waveform. I would not suggest anything but an Alpha-Stim. It is also the only product of its kind with tons of studies behind it.
I would be very wary that this other device does not require a script, also. Get an Alpha-Stim. Scripts are easy enough to obtain.
You may want to ask this question at yahoo discussion group mind-l (mind machines). The designers of alpha-stim often post there, aswell as many users of Bt-6.
My doctor refused to prescribe an Alpha-Stim, so I’ve been talking to the A-S people who came up with the following ideas:
1)Have a nurse order one for you. A friend at my gym is a nurse, so that’s probably what I will do.
- If you are traveling to Canada, to go to the SWIS seminar or to visit JB for example, they can ship it to you there. I don’t know what US Customs or airport security would say about bringing it back, however.
My Dr. refuses to prescribe one for me, but has prescibed medication in the past. I live in the Baltimore area and would like to rent an Alpha-Stim. Before I go Dr. shopping, anyone heard of these devices being rented out-it’s a big chunk o’ change if you got no benefit from it.

The Alpha-Stim is not expensive. Sure, its $800 but that is nothing compared to three years of weekly bills to my psychiatrist and countless medication fees. And guess what? I no longer see my psychiatrist. I no longer take any medication. When I started using the Alpha-Stim I would still have periods of anxiety/depression but after a couple of months these periods became less and less frequent. Get a doctor’s prescription and spend the $800. The quality of your life is worth it. Also, thanks Chris for including the Alpha-Stim in the Stuff We Like article. Had you not I would still be suffering to this day. I owe you man!
Glad it worked for you. Being a natural skeptic I’d like to rent one to judge its effects on me. Just curious-did you do any meditation or guided relaxation techniques before? I used them in high school with excellent results. However, now that I’m closing in on 40 with 2 kids & mega job stress they don’t seem to be working. I didn’t really find the counseling/psychotherapy and drugs to be effective. Exercise seems to help more, but I still need something more.
Frustrated, it is likely that you will notice improvements while using the Alpha-Stim. Nothing else has worked for me before. I have tried relaxation techniques, but my anxiety was so intense it did little. I have been on many medications, including popular ones such as Prozac, Paxil, Effexor, and Luvox. With any of the given medications, I either noticed zero improvements or became worse. I went to a therapist and that was just a waste of money. I say that if the Alpha-Stim can help me, it can help you. Its good to be skeptical, but always remember that if all else fails, you still have another shot with the Alpha-Stim. Good luck!
