All-Time Mr. Olympia

Top three in no particular order: Sergio, Yates, Big Ron.

Ever accounting for the changed standards from back in the day (lower bodyweight and higher bodyfat on stage), Oliva’s structure was just ridiculous.
Remember reading Schwarzenegger talk about Olivia chugging coke and eating burgers and fries pre-contest while he was basically starving himself. Olivia was a freak amongst freaks.

I’ll take the 80’s look.

For me the 70’s and 80’s look. Once the HGH et al takes over, the stomach gets too big. I like the old school narrow waist and tight stomach look, rather than the rounded, bloated (but strangely muscular) 90’s+ look.

Excelllent work on the comparison shots! I think Dorian Yates is my all-time favorite. However, when you look at his and Ronnie’s waists and compare to Sergio and Haney, well, there is no comparison. Some of the pharmacological help the '90s and later guys used bloated their waists. Even Arnold, who had a wide waist, was not thick like Yates and beyond.

Dorian Yates all day for #1. No one brought the same package of mass, density, conditioning, and proportions that he did.

2nd Ronnie
3rd Prime Jay
99’ Ronnie beats dorian any day of the week
99 Ronnie beats some versions of Dorian, sure, but no version of Ronnie beats this version of Yates

No matter how many times i watch this, it blows me away. He had the mass here to hang with Ronnie, and his density and seperation are the best anyone has ever presented.

even with his torn bicep?

1999 Ronnie begs to differ.

^ agree with this. Dont like the powerlifter midsection Bloat ! Prefer the beautiful symmetry that was Zane.

If I was a judge I’d give it to Yates or Heath, for carrying freaky mass yet also having ‘good looking’ physiques. Though they never won, Levrone and Flex Wheeler were in this category for me too.

Ronnie was massive - but to me just looked like a bunch of parts thrown together.

Of course Yates had his weaknesses - particularly 95 and onwards, with the short (torn) left bi, and he let his gut go a little. And Heath’s shoulders are a little narrow, so not exactly a classical X frame.

But personally I’d go Haney or Dexter.

Those side bicep poses are insane.

I like the way you think (though I’ve never been much of a fan of Haney’s physique).

I’d add Arnold to the list of potential winners - not because he has the best physique, but the fact that he’s Arnold might be enough to sway the judges in his favour.

Though it all really depends on what judges and what time period this hypothetical competition would be held in.

Okay, what if you could construct a Mr. Franken-lympia. Piece by piece, best bodyparts, best conditioning, symmetry etc. What’s your call?

Lee Priest at a foot taller.

Arms - Heath
Back - Dorian
Quads/Hams - Ronnie
Chest - Arnie
Calves - Sergio
Glutes - no homo :stuck_out_tongue:

(Left out delts… Meh)
First name basis…

Man, as someone who clearly doesn’t have a judges eye (or pockets…), always thought Priest and Levrone had the best builds.

Ronnie in 2000
His 3 stage rear lat spread with Snoop Dogg’s The Next Episode song. That posing routine was awesoooome.

Cutler in 2009
His legendary photo on MD cover. Out of this world conditioning.

Heath in 2011
His best package ever IMO. His side chest was jaw dropping. I cant forget the shape of his obliques in that pose.

1.Dorian Yates
2. Favorite old school Arnold
3. Favorite could have been Mike Mentzer
