Egads. I’m the first to admit that my back is a weak link. A belt helps cue me when DLing to keep a tight arch. With squat, I didn’t start wearing a belt until this spring. Squatted in gear without a belt until then. Now, I must admit, I really, really like it. Call me a pussy.

Well you wont hear me calling YOU a pussy. Me? I woke up thinking about my 80# squat today and couldnt sleep haha.
The belt: so max lift for that person? like obviously my max lift is you girls warm up but its heavy/a challenge to me. When he had me try the belt, yea ill admit it felt so different dare i say easier, I will work it out.
Thanks for the advice/opinions
Punnyg glad i could contribute to your crease, maybe some botox eh haha
I haven’t worn a belt, because years ago when worrying about my scoliosis, made the decision to build up the midsection as strong as possible and thought belts or wraps or anything would give me a false impression of how things were going.
Happy with the results - never thought I could DL 300 (almost) with no aids. Probably should start looking into one, though, if my lifts keep increasing. Snapper sounds like the expert to ask.
I know an 800lb raw squatter who throws the belt on around 315. Don’t over think this. I do make a point of not wearing mine tight until top sets, but have it on loose pretty early on just to get used to it for forms sake.

Just to be clear -if powerlifting is your sport, use a belt, plus any other equipment that is allowed by the rules.
And Ms. Snap, I would never ever consider putting you into the pussy (figuratively of course) category.
…Jumping Jehosaphat. Someone who actually uses the word “egad”.

This was first set of the 65 after watching i went a little lower but probably looked very similar…
EDIT I remember maybe it was Nicki not sure but the conv, was about the bar rolling around the back, so I tried to pull it into me.Which was suggested.
Given how young your “training age” is, you have amazing form. Seriously.
Do you lunge forwards or backwards? Personally, I find it a lot easier to control all aspects (form, distance, depth) of the exercise when lunging backwards, especially in a fatigued state.

Holding up my arms blow drying clients has been brutal. Shoulder burn- the kind you try to work through and cant and you end up laughing cause you really want to say toughen up or cry.

I didn’t realise you were relatively new to lifting, what were you doing before to keep fit?[/quote]
I started lifting (dumbell type stuff)with p90x, got a 5 ft bar last winter/spring time and worked with that, most i could get up and over my head was 55 lbs. loaded up was 108 or so so i tried deads with that. Got a Oly bar a few months ago, and really fell in love.Had a country club type place but didnt have squat rack or free bars to work with, so I joined a gym a month ago and have access to most everything. So big lifts as far as squats its a whole new thing with rack and not Mcguivering it up haha
Lol “All show and no go” I use that one often on these guys all pumped up that are weak as hell. I cant wrap my mind around how guys of such size and so muscular can be so damn weak. I get a kick out of it, because I am a FUCKING MACHINE! I can laugh at these guys. lol
