I really hope NZ beat the French. It’s rather humiliating for England to be beaten by our ancestral enemy, so hoping the Kiwis can kick some arse. Plus, NZ men are hot.
The gym sounds great - maybe not quite what you are used to but you’ll adjust. I’m jealous you have a prowler! And the sled and tires. And actually, bumpers. My gym has regular rubber-coaster plates. And no space. So don’t cry, you’ve still got better facilities than most of us!
Lex-looks to be a very exciting time for you! The new gym does sound great, even if it takes a little bit of adjusting. Soon enough and all the quirks will seem the norm.
i’m drinking out of my all blacks mug this week rootin’ for your boys
I think your gym sounds pretty nice, so many toys youll never get bored. Plus you have a stick to beat away the boys …(if your screaming doesnt do it first hahaha)
I got excited seeing a few toys at my new gym, but as i guessed its only for the trainers/classes. Although if I can remember what he looks like one guy working said it was ok for me to use, i can play dumb till I get caught! You know this is something you would also do.
Made it out to the Oly gym and had a great time. They have a women’s bar and there seems to be a few people who really know what they are up to and are actively inputing as coaches. Maybe 10 guys learning. Cleans / Powercleans anyway. Maybe a few less who arrive in time to train snatches. Everyone seems to do triples and take turns.
Quite nice, actually. Get to watch everyone and it is about enough rest time between sets. Will try and make it out there each Saturday. The coach took pity on me and let me do doubles (since I’m only used to singles). Felt that the next day for sure.
Been fighting off a systems failure / sinusy throaty infection thing… Just accumulated stress, I reckon. Having a good time staying with a friend and his partner. They are happy about my taking my time to look for a flat to make sure I get something I’m happy with. Good for me, actually, since I’d become a bit of an anti-social hermit in Aussie and wasn’t sure I’d do well with social flatmates. Actually doing better now with them around, though. Being fairly productive in actually applying for government jobs since the dole doesn’t really give me enough money to both eat and train lolz.
Front squatted 47.5kg today! PR! My squats have gotten stronger! Not quite sure why… Anyhoo… Thinking it might be time to re-run the RSR with the same weights I did last time since now 45kg actually does seem to be my reliable training max. I think the volume is good for me. Need to work hard on pulling my hips up and forwards (still). It has been noticed I’m not doing that for my catch recovery, too…
Oo Sexy Lexy, what strong legs you have. My crystal ball sees a BW FS soon.
The new oly gym sounds fun. Yeah my new coach has me doing 3 reps of 5 sets, where I was used to the 3x3. I lose count. But it’ll be good fer ya. And big ditto on the hip up & pull for myself.
yea! PR any time is awesome, but in addition to the moving/stress you’ve been going through, even more so. Good work, and good luck finding some work----would hate to have to see eating go by the wayside
Glad to hear you’re settling in and that things are looking up on all fronts! Such fantastic news!
Excellent work on the front squat, my dear. I’m with Tech - definitely see a BW ft sqaut in your future. Get it girl!
Also, that’s great that you’re going to start pulling more than just singles. Hee hee heee…you know how much I love triples and some. I think it’ll do wonders for you.
As my other favorite Kiwis say - Its business time!
having a bit of a dilemma about gym stuff at the moment…
the place i joined is a great place to train powerlifting and strongman etc etc etc…
but it is turning out to be far from ideal for me. they don’t seem to have plans to acquire a women’s bar and i’m supposed to wait my turn to use the men’s bar and the platform since it seems to be the deadlift (not that it is fair to call it that) bar and platform, really…
and the bar jams anyway. and the green bumpers are almost snapped so i won’t use them for fear of breaking them…
anyway…
will see whether they will let me bail on the contract i signed to be a member there for 2 years (basically converting it to a one month membership) or whether i have to go all consumer right-sy on them with respect to what standards are acceptable to provide given the service they claim to provide (i’d really rather not have to go that way)
so looks like i need to make the commute out to the oly gym…
which basically means i won’t be able to train more than 3x per week…
which means it will be time for mammoth 2 hour training sessions focused on squat, snatch, clean, jerk and basically nothing else.
i think (to be fair) i’ll make more progress training ‘properly’ like that. but… i’m feeling fairly homesick for my competition eleiko bar that was waiting for me (and only me) every single day… and even though i had to fight for the platform sometimes it was a wonderful platform with gutters in front and behind…
and there is a lot of ‘restructuring’ at the moment so that government jobs are scarce. most that are advertised are a case of ‘we are laying you three people off but here is a job you can apply for’ internal set ups rather than them looking to take on anybody new. hrm. been looking at flats. a bit depressing. i’m not quite sure why people feel safe living in houses on stilts built on the side of a cliff on a fault line. i get a fear of falling negotiating the roads / footpaths at times… guess living in a dark damp valley (hopefully with power included so i can run a dehumidifier and heater fairly constantly) it is. such is life. again. hrm.
I’m sorry things aren’t going smoothly. Have you tried asking if the gym can invest in an oly bar for you? If you spin it as an investment to attract new clients they may be game.
