Really? I find mixing it with a bit of water and a tiny (ie 1/4 packet) bit of stevia quite delicious. Even better with some 100% cocoa powder

Imo, mixing it with pumpkin purée works better

That sounds disgusting, but I’d imagine if you mix it with some Greek yogurt and a bit of chili oil, that’d make some mean satay sauce

Mixing it with water and stevia would be NOT eating it by itself, no?

True  I’ve never tried it straight. Although, I do enjoying eating cocoa powder straight (scooping a tablespoon or two and putting the powder in my mouth) so I can’t imagine it to be that different

Week 5 deload day 3 (+4 added in)

10 mins conditioning: running - 10 mins 1.3 miles. Hated every second of it, compounded by two factors one it’s incredibly hot (by British standards) and the treadmill is in my conservatory and two since I planned to do squats and my knee sleeves don’t go on after I’ve got hot, I put them on, heat + running + knee sleeves pretty much cut off the blood supply to my calves, it was fairly painful from about 2 mins in, by the end it was so unpleasant I had to take the sleeves off, thus negating the point entirely and making running just that bit more unpleasant.

Emoms: squats blue bands + 100kg X 3 plus ohp 50kg X 3 (from floor) 6 mins + 3 min break, 4 mins.

I’m not going to get a chance to train over the weekend so it seemed like a great idea to just put tomorrow’s emom set in with today’s. It was not a great idea it was a disgusting idea, hence the break at minute 6. I think getting the bar from floor and wearing a belt (back is visibly swollen from yesterdays sandbag mishap but not painful unless I twist intentionally to stretch it, so all good for training but thought I’d be cautious and wear a belt for squatting) meant breathing was a chore.

Stupid idea, won’t happen again, I don’t feel at all deloaded haha.

I think we’ve determined one thing, you guys are not the people to ask about taste!

I have definitely never been accused of having taste.

Don’t ever tell your wife you said that .

Found this stuff in Aldi - thought great, checked the label, 25g protein or pot, no fat, great picked up a few pots, ate one, not bad, checked sugar (forgot to even look) also 25g per pot… Great. Back to unflavoured!

Grenade carb killer bars are pretty tasty. And optimum nutrition also do a knock off version that tastes pretty good.

I have no illusions about their healthiness though

Week 6 day 1

Conditioning:

Totally wussed out on the conditioning, went for a pace to beat 2600m in 10 mins and got really super tight in my hamstring/glute attachment area around about 5 mins, made a deal to get to 2k and that just took forever, in all honesty I probably could have dropped the pace and got the 10 mins out, but a) I was conscious of deadlifts today (the reason I picked rowing over running or sandbags!) And b) mentally I’d rather finish early than complete in a worse time.

Giant set 1
KB swings 24kg X 5 X 6 sets
Sumo paused DLs: 60, 100, 120, 140, 160, 170 (some sort of PR) X 3
Ab rolls: 5 X 6 sets
Burpee chins: 5 X 6 sets

Gs2:
KBS: 24kg X 5 X 3 sets
Psdl: 135 X 9, 8, 8
Ab rolls: 5 X 3 sets
Burpee chins: 5 X 3 sets

Emom
Squats 70kg + blue X 3 X 10

First wave through I hit 150 X 3 on the paused DL, this time I had @TrainForPain 405 spurring me on - I hit 170kg X 3 (I figured this is close enough to 405lb X 1) I did video this, I confess the pauses are very unimpressive, it’s basically enough to break the momentum down from floor and then have to re-accelerate. I was tempted to push for 4 plates until I saw the video. I’ll throw it up soon. 170 is kind of a default PR since I’ve never really pushed paused deads and first time through I was mostly feeling out the program.

It was nice to drop weight on something this week as the % on emoms goes back to 50% - in reality I’m not doing % based just adding weight and ensuring I’m doing speed work not grinding heavy stuff.

Weight is still 14.11/207 I think, I’ve slipped on focusing on quantity and quality over weekend, stressful time, cut my desire to eat and I ended up drinking a fair few of my cals instead of eating them (whey, oats and bananas drinks).

How do you like these? I’m getting bored of SLDL as a supplemental exercise so I’m interested to try something new to compliment my batwings training.

Haha, I have no good replies for all the weird batwinging!

Paused DL are pretty much new to me, thrown them in occasionally over the years but never more than a one off. Not sure how much I can say, I don’t hate them (except when I have to do sets of 8+ but I have everything at 5+), and I hope they’ll have a positive impact, should help me with brace/tension, and probably help strengthen my weakest point - off the floor/all of me.

But that’s all hope and speculation at this point!

I think last week I did 365 for my set of 3, so you definitely beat me. Good job.

Sounds like our pauses look similar! It is so hard to try to hold these - of all the lifts shoring up a week point, I’ve got to think this one is the most focused.

Do you normally pull touch and go or dead stop?

Allegedly paused DL!

Genuinely felt like a proper pause haha, I imagine the training effect is still as intended - acceleration twice through weak points.

Depends if it’s under 5 reps usually dead stop as soon as it goes cardio level then it’s touch and go .

You never mentioned they were cheat deadlifts.

For some reason, I imagined the pause on the way down, not up. Because i am silly. I’ll probably try those next week if i remember.

That’s a reading comprehension fail!

Yea I’m definitely think this and deficit are going to be very helpful long term. I’ve been so unadventurous in my training over the years, really hoping this style of training will bring some strength gains!
