That’s not going to limit saturated fat intake at all.
He wanted low sugar ![]()
There’s more
Probably should err on the side of caution since my sat fat is probably pretty substantial, cheese 2-3 times a day, butter, eggs, chocolate, only thing I don’t eat much of is animal fat, unless it’s a BBQ or I’m eating bacon (and those two things happen semi regularly as well!).
I think one of my bigger follies was switching away from protein bars to cheese as my primary snack because cheese was “more natural”. I was getting a lot of saturated fats from a lot of places I really could have avoided. However, a leaner meat intake certainly goes a long way, as I wasn’t shying away from that.
I’m not necessarily looking to lower sat fat at the moment, was more thinking to up calories without adding a load of extra, this does lead me to consider my cheese habit however… But cheese is delicious (and protein bars suck - at least here in the UK).
I think on my tombstone it will probably read “He died of cheese”.
I really lament the the inability to get decent, inexpensive protein bars her in DK. Not that they are nutrionally much better than the rest of the garbage I eat, but they do at least have, you know, protein.
Same for my tombstone - unless I die of something more interesting, but statistics say most likely heart disease or cancer!
Or I could permablast tren until it kills me and have “died of Tren with a massive 210kg 1rm deadlift”
I hear you on the protein bars, as beautifully illustrated by a recently posted pie chart fat and carbs are 80% of my diet - protein 20%.
I suspect my breakdown is similar. I have never been able to tell a difference in anything even when eating craploads of protein, although I have never really been dedicated enough to try to get super lean either.
I am not the most “body aware” of people, so I’m like you don’t notice much when I switch macros around don’t feel more energised or sluggish on various diets, I notice only when cals get low (plus I generally hate low carb eating just due to food choices I’d rather go low fat).
I noticed a minor increase in gym performance a few years back when increasing protein but nothing since then and I generally get 170g+ (usually nearer 200) per day so I can’t see any real benefit from increasing that.
Like you I’ve never done really lean, outline abs in the right light is my limit before the psychology of dieting gets to me (being a former skinny kid!).
Haha that’s brilliant!
I went with fat free greek yogurt mixed with a powdered peanut butter product (PBFit), but have mixed it with protein powder before. That’s getting away from the “unprocessed” side of the house, but it’s a solid punch of protein, no fat, limited carbs.
True, I tried the UK equivalent of pbfit - it was gross (just tasted burnt nothing like PB), we essentially copy the US on food but make it worse.
Quark (some sort of soft cheese I think) over here’s pretty inoffensive to eat and almost all protein, 0 fat, throw a banana in and tastes ok. I should stock back up on that, probably similar to what you describe above!
I no joke forget to factor flavor into my recommendations, haha. I forget its a thing.
It isn’t normally a massive issue for me - but the stuff just tastes of pure burnt. I am assuming they just extracted the fat by incinerating it and spraying the residue back to a brown colour.
Mixing it with the yogurt helps reconstitute it. It becomes like a pudding. More “essence of peanut butter” vs actual peanut butter taste, but takes some of the sharpness away from the yogurt.
Does PB fit also taste like essence of burn in the US then?
This is a solid combo.
Eating the powder by itself isn’t pleasant. I tried mixing it with pumpkin seeds a while back and it was a snack that actually made me tap out. It needs to be mixed with some sort of liquid. I like adding it to shakes. Jon Andersen actually talked about pouring it on chicken and mixing it with sugar free syrup to make some sort of low carb peanut chicken.
