Al-Qaeda in Congress?

HH,
While I don’t agree with you, I’m not going to sit here and flame you with terms like “racist pig.” I do, however, have a question. What are your views on the Westboro Baptist Church and other radical Christian groups? In my mind, they’re the western Christian equivalent to the Arab world Muslim extremists. I would hope you wouldn’t approve of one of them being elected to congress.

Yet surely you’re all for other, less extreme, Christians holding office. Why do Muslims have to be so different? I understand your arguments against Sharia law, but you must realize that not all Muslims are so devout as to believe that their religion should govern the country.

If you have specific problems with the congressman from Minnesota, fine, I’m not particularly fond of quite a few of our elected representatives, but to take that disagreement to the point of being opposed to the election of anyone based on their creed is pretty narrow-minded and bigoted don’t you think?

Lastly, you mentioned that Jews and Christians don’t have Sharia law as part of their religion, thus they’re ok for office. How would you feel about an atheist? I mean, one can make a pretty strong argument that an atheist, lacking religious conviction, lacks moral direction and hence has no basis for deciding between right and wrong. Yet, if such a person has lived their life as a pillar of the community, never having been convicted of a crime, cheated on a spouse, been caught naked with an underage asian boy, been addicted to prescription drugs, alcohol, etc… Wouldn’t they be just as capable of performing the duties of a congressman as someone of fait?

Sorry to ramble, just some thoughts I had, and it’s a slow day at work.

Jay

Thread over. This is proof you are a racist pig.

He is an AMERICAN. You can be Muslim and western at the same time.

Islam is a religion, not a nationality.

Are you opposed with Jews in Congress? How about Catholics?

Atheists? Agnostics? Buddhists? Taoists?

How about socialists? Corporation owners? Marxists? Adam Smith fanatics?

If the American people want it, it’s in. That is democracy.

For someone whose constantly whining about how the dems are communist hacks, you sure do sound like an anti-democratic douche bag.

Are you this fucking STOO-PID? How is opposing a religion racist? Does might make right, since if the people vote for it, they must be right? The Germans voted Hitler into power.

You are not a serious poster. You truly don’t have a clue. Fly away, little gnat…

Oh, and Jews and Christians don’t have Sharia Law as their premise, SFB.

They have the bible, most of which is equally as disgusting, as their premise.

And opposing a religion for the sake of opposing it IS racist (or what ever the religion based -ism is).
Opposing it’s BELIEFES or ACTIONS is one thing. BUt opposing someones right to practice a religion, just because you don’t agree with it, is racism.

Go find a Muslim in your area. Ask him if he’ll kill you. He won’t.

I have Muslim friends. They’ve read the Koran through and through. The follow the Sharia WHEN IT APPLIES.

DO you seriously believe all Muslims follow the Sharia and Koran to the letter?

Thats like saying Christians follow the bible, which most do not most of the time.

Do you work on Sunday? Let your students be rebellious without stoning them to death? Allow women to teach?

You know all of those things are forbidden under Christian doctrine, right?

Not all Muslims are extremists. Period.

It’s not about giving them the “right to kill” you. It’s about giving them the right to practice their own religion.

If you don’t believe in freedom of speech for those whom you disagree with, you do not believe in freedom of speech at all.

Quoted for truth. This is what I thought before HH got me all angry.

Good post. Well put together and well spoken (typed). I agree.

Did you read ANY of the links? And you, YOURSELF, said that your friends only apply Sharia ‘when it applies’ — in other words, they don’t follow it because its lunacy and they’ll only be sane WHEN NOT FOLLOWING IT! They know its insane and you do not.

Most Nazis were nice people, until they applied the National Socialist doctrine. The wackiest of the bunch, like Himmler and Heydrich, rose to positions of power because they were consistent Nazis (which is what Hitler was looking for). That’s the same as what happened in Iran, Syria, and Palastine.

The gentleman from Minnesota will be a good congressman and American, in so far as he IGNORES HIS FAITH, which demands his obedience. Let’s hope he ignores it as much as possible.

Great, great point. As Resa Azlan said, in reference to moderate Muslims, “George Bush says ‘You’re with us or against us,’ and they thing ‘Well, I’m not with you…’”

I mis wrote “when it applies”. I meant, when it isn’t nuts.

Just like Christian apply the bible and Christian law when it’s not nuts.

I’m a Jew, and they haven’t killed me yet. Neither have my Christian friends stoned me to death for rebelling against my parents wishes. Or Not worshiping their lord, or playing football on Sunday…

You get it yet? Christian law is equally as disgusting as the Sharia. Muslims can ignore the bad parts of their book equally as well as Christians ignore the bad parts of theirs.

Nazism is completely different from a religion. It is a supremest cult. It has no moral standings on anything but supremacy.

Islam, however, dictates (like Christianity) the best way to go about your daily life so that you may achieve eternal paradise. In fact, the Bible and the Koran are incredibly similar.

Islam, in earlier history, has actually been the more tolerant of the two (by far actually).

Only lately has Islam extremism become a major problem. However, I do not believe Islam is the actual cause of the tension.

Israel and our support of it is what causes the tension and hatred. Period. The Jihad is an excuse to inspire the young men to die for a cause.

I love Israel, and I love what it represents (a Jewish homeland), but damn did they pick a shitty plot to squat in.

Don’t think Islam breeds hate any more than Christianity does.

And this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.

Ever think he might be saying that so that people like you put the Republicans back in office?

Regardless, Iraq has been a terrorist wet dream. Even the pentagon has come out and finally admit it’s created more terrorists than any other recent US action.
