Hi CT,

Took your advice about the training I was doing being too cute and switched to a Madcow 5x5, variation of the Bill Starr 5x5. Day 1 work to top set of 5, day 2 work up to 4 sets of 5, day 3 work up to heavy top set of 3 by 5’s and back off set for 8 reps. I’m focusing on the 5 main movements with assistance being Pendlay Rows, Power snatch, and some light arm work for the most part with one day where I do a barbell complex (mainly because it helps with my mobility)

Day 1
Squat
Bench Press
Power Clean (Hang)

Day 2
Box Squat
Push Press
Deadlift (conventional)

Day 3
Squat
Bench Press
Power Clean (Hang)

I will be running this training cycle for 8-9 weeks or until linear progress stalls.

Would using a 10 week western style periodization approach after a 1 week deload be a good option to peak strength gained from this training cycle? In your opinion would this be a smart transition?
