hi guys,
i’m a 15 year old guy with a black belt in taekwondo. i won quite a few golds and was going to world cup but quit due to my dad nearly dyin gin training. i want to start up another martial art but one which is more physical and more sparring based. which martial arts do you guys mainly recommend? cheers
Striking or more wrestling based ??
I do BJJ wich is groundfighting and we do a lot of rolling on the ground.
Boxing is also good for sparring

You will get beat up badly using the ‘self defense’ knowledge contained in TKD. I know from personal experience. Start wrestling in high school. Do muay thai in the off season.
Wrestle in high school… probably going to have to bust your ass and do a few wrestling camps in the summer
A kid at my gym wrestles and does muay thai, he trains BJJ in the summer between wrestling camps and he’s only 16.
thanks guys. will look into a bjj club in my area. if not i have a boxing gym down the road.
Also look into Judo. There is an emphasis on randori (free sparring) in practice. It’s also a lot of fun.
I second the deal about wrestling, too. It will get you in tremendous shape.
If you are looking for sparring, go boxing, BJJ, or wrestling. You’ll always be testing yourself.
Boxing or wrestling.
However if you’re looking for a punch kick only form of sparring then take up kyokushin.
No protection is permitted at all except cup. No gloves, helmets or shin guards.
You arent allowed to punch or elbow the face but you can knee and kick the face.
There is minimal grappling.
It’s stand up full contact. The purpose is to either survive the round and win for being a better fighter overall or knock your opponent unconscious.
You basically wail into your opponent until one of you gives up (sometimes not by choice :P).
The music in this one is kinda lame but the clips are awesome:
Muay Thai
Submission Wrestling
Sambo
BJJ
