You could always throw the bands over the plates instead of on the bar for added tension on squats. Trust me, it’s fun!

You could do this on bench to right? Although id be harder because I wouldnt have multiple 45 plates to put on, so the band would have to stay on just one 45?

I don’t mean any offense by this, but if you would be using one plate, then you won’t need any added band tension. Even using the set up that Diet posted will put a great deal of tension on the bar using average bands, somewhat controlling the bar path. I’d do that though, and it will probably be more than enough tension. Experiment.

Never seen anyone use more than 1 plate in a DE bench w/ bands!
Really? Anyone benching more than 340ish should be using around 2 plates… and further, even for those using 2 plates, an average band would be a lot of band tension, a lot of guys doing 2 plates are still using light bands or monster mini’s.

wait can someone explain the DB setup with the bands?

couldn’t I just choke the bands through the holes of a pair of 45s on each side?

I might buy some mini bands in the upcoming weeks.
You could.

The DB setup is either the one that was posted earlier in the thread with a picture (is that the one your asking about) or use a heavy ass db on the ground under your bar path, and double the band up… Doubling a mini or monster-mini gives tension through the entire range, and decent tension at that.

Here’s the DB setup with a doubled mini band. Notice the plates to keep the DB’s from rolling.

ive been told this is a cheap good way: take two cinderblocks stick a metal pipe in btw them and put the band on the pipe that thing isnt going anywhere and wont use up plates or db’s if u are short

Not sure about that one.

I think a cinderblock weighs something like 30lbs. And a doubled mini will give you 40lbs off the chest and 90lbs at lockout (depending on band setup and arm length). I know I’ve done it with 75lbs DB’s and had them dance on me.

ALl of teh heavy Dbs in my gym are just in one set, and I’d hate to be that guy. Plus, my plates have several holes in them, so I THINK it would work butter with the plates because they sit flat on the floor, and won’t have to worry about them moving. The Db setup looks shaky.
