Good on you. Start a training log on here and tag some folks in. Plenty of good guys on here happy to give help along the way. Remember that discipline always wins over motivation and consistency and hard work are the real secrets to betting big and strong. Good luck with your journey.

For all the bells and whistles of modern programmes 5x5 still holds up.

I did it and got bigger and stronger despite not eating to support getting bigger and stronger. The only thing you might want to consider is that it doesn’t include as much lower body work specifically because it was designed for athletes whose sports are already demanding on their lower body. If that’s not you, then you may want to consider some additional work there. Perhaps your extra conditioning day will take care of this.

I don’t think you can go wrong with that classic routine. There’s a reason it’s stood the test of time.

I’ve never heard of that so I read the article on tnation about the program. Those first couple cycles don’t seem bad at all, but man, it quickly goes into spending what would seem like and eternity in the gym :joy:
