Hey all, so this has been plaguing me for a long time now and it only occurs in the days following heavy squatting.
There is a soreness in the back of my left leg where the gluteal fold meets the hamstring and then down into the medial thigh. The pain will last for up to a week after squatting and then will disappear completely until i squat heavy again.
It is only in the left leg although there is general DOMS in the same area of the other leg. The pain manifests when i attempt to do things like get in to a deadlift position or setting up for a dumbell bench (one time i had to drop the Dumbells on the floor immediately after sitting down because the pain was so intense). If i wait enough time (a week or so) then the movements will cause no issue at all. The pain will be intense for 20 mins or so before returning to a dull soreness (unless i’m foolish enough to try it again), the 20 mins is enough to cause nausea.
Today i decided to try some stretches/mobility work to figure out the exact muscle that is injured.
I felt the pain during a split stance kneeling adductor mob (right leg out, left leg bent.
I felt the twinge as soon as i eased back in to the stretch.
I went to a DPT earlier this year who thought it was tight hip flexors and inactive glutes. Unfortunately i went to see him when there were no symptoms so it was hard to explain and locate the pain.
I’ve since tried to stretch my hip flexors regularly and add in glute bridges and banded side steps a few times a week. Obviously it hasn’t helped.
Any ideas?
Thanks
