Good evening! After I finish my competition in 2 weeks, I will be going back to a higher volume 5/3/1 that I was doing previously and doing events on Saturday. I originally was doing BBB w/ BBB sumo DL after squats and BBB zerchers after deads, thinking that whenever I started w/ stones and kegs, it seemed like I almost did sumo dl and then once I lapped it, the zerchers would help. The more I do kegs, the more it becomes conv deadlift foot placement and rolling it up my chins.
My question is, should I do sumo deadlift BBB or deficit BBB, knowing that sumo isn’t allowed in comp and I think the closer stance will be better for car dl and my weakness is breaking it(anything) off the floor. Also, the guy that watched me DL on Saturday said that OLY box squats are great for conv deadlift if your weakness is breaking off the floor. I’ve read some on EFS and from what I read afterwards about some of Louie Simmons, that is kind of in line w/ that train of thought. I know in SM the 1rm dl or squat isn’t as important as powerlifting, but If I get both of those over 500 lbs this year, no doubt I’ll be much better off than I am now.
Bottom line: Should I stick w/ bbb sumo/zerchers or go with bbb deficit/oly box squats? I know I am probably overthinking it but want to get stronger and work on my weaknesses before my next competition next year(I probably won’t compete until battle of the buckeye state next year. It’ll give us a chance to take our newborn to see my wife’s side of the family.)
