Got a bad cold at midweek so this turned into a mild deload. I’m feeling a little better today but still achy and stuffy and didn’t feel the need to win any medals today. Reps at 495 were nice and easy though.
Are these double overhand or straps or what? Sorry haven’t been following. Either way daily low rep deadlifts are one of the cooler minimalist training regimes I’ve seen.
225 double overhand, 315 mixed grip, 405 mixed grip, usually put straps on at 495. I’ve done a single at 515 with mixed grip once, but this is kinda the usual.

Throwback to last summer (actually two years ago, I think) when we had the 405 EMOM deadlift challenge. It was a little abbreviated today - my son only naps for so long, workouts limited to 20ish minutes unless I wait til he goes to bed for the night - so 20 minutes was all I planned on, and it went pretty well. Probably good to bring this out more often, maybe I’ll do it every other Sunday for a few weeks and see what that’s like.

What’s the plan with the 700 pull mate. Are you programming the progression or just continuing to hit heavy volume over time ?

I’ve got a bit of a plan for the next few months: Monday-Friday the usual deadlift workouts that you see (alternating weeks between using the Wagon Wheels versus conventional height, also mixing axle vs barbell), Saturday has been squat day (up to a top set of 5, adding 5 pounds per week) and Sunday is whatever I feel like (probably will do more sandbag work over the summer).
I like doing squats on Saturday because that’s the one day my wife and I can work out together (while our little guy is down for his morning nap…) and she loves to squat, so I just go with that flow. I want to keep pushing my squat up; once I’m hitting 350-plus for 5’s on the squat, that should put me in a little better spot to retest my deadlift max and see if I can go over 625, my current best. Right now any pull over 600 is where shit gets real; it seems like I can pull 500-something in my sleep but 605 tonight (video above) took some grit.
