My wife (justifiably) gave me some crap about the fact that I’ve been JUST deadlifting for a few months (since she does this in reverse - she’ll squat every week but will skip out on deadlifts) so I decided to do a couple easy squats today to get back into that. I promise myself I’ll squat once a week from now on.

Staying in a hotel with small gym, did my old favorite thing here, went through the whole dumbbell rack from 5’s up to 50’s and did a set with each, making me realize I should really do just a little basic upper body work like this to keep myself conditioned, making me decide to order a couple of dumbbells to add to the home gym.

Dumbbell Workout (15 Sets)
So after last week’s hotel-gym workout where all I had that looked good was a dumbbell rack, I decided it would be good to get a couple of dumbbells for the home and give myself one day a week to do some basic upper-body stuff: assorted raises, curls and presses. The deadlift is and will always remain my anchor for fitness & strength but I realize my shoulders, elbows and arms will probably thank me in the long run if I give them a little love. So I’ve got myself a pair of 15’s, 20’s, and 25’s for which I can give myself one dedicated day per week to do lots of high-rep upper body work. This will also be nice because lots of hotels seem to have small dumbbell racks these days, and it will be easier to feel like I can maintain some continuity while traveling if I already do this regularly versus that being the only time I ever pick up a dumbbell.
