Haven’t commented on your log for a while but been keeping up with your progress. Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing the 500 deadlift very soon! Personally, I think you could walk in the gym tomorrow and pull it off with ease!!

With today’s workout, I completed a nice trifecta for the T-Nation deadlift club…
@Alpha broke into a new century with a 700 pull.
@twojarslave broke into a new century with a 600 pull.
@ActivitiesGuy brings up the rear with this little quarter-ton pull.
Great job mate. Maybe I’m just cheeky but you pulled 500. Eddie Hall pulled 500. I guess you both have something in common now, haha! Screw the metric system, everything sounds cooler in lbs.
Very nice pull. I don’t know about you, but I felt like I could smash through a brick wall for days after I first hit five plates.
Now that 500 has gone up, will you focus on something else?
Excellent question! Moving forward, I would like to maintain the ability to pull 500 (probably retaining a regular deadlift workout in the 405-455 range) while accomplishing 2 more things:
a) slowly peeling off an outer layer of bodyfat. I’m currently walking around at 217ish, and would prefer to be in the 200-205 range. I was happy to add a little mass if that’s what it took to get my pull up to 500, but now it’s time to dial in the diet a little tighter.
b) passing the RKC Level One snatch test (100 reps with a 53-pound kettlebell in 5 minutes)
Basically, I think the combination of a 500 deadlift & passing the RKC Level One snatch test at bodyweight of 200 pounds passes for a moderately “strong” and “conditioned” athlete, those are standards I would like to achieve and then maintain.
Very solid pull dude. Smooth and controlled. Digging those 2.5s on the side to make it official.
Ha! I thought about just pulling 495, but come on, might as well add the chips so it’s an even 500.
For a regular workout, I would just use 45’s and 25’s unless I am targeting a specific weight/rep PR. But for the PR attempts, you do what you’ve gotta do.
Thanks for the compliment, man. Lotta guys that I look up to around here, nice to be moving on up a little bit.
Now that I think about it, I’ve never actually pulled 500. I’ve pulled 495 and 515, but I’ve never loaded the bar anywhere in between.
I’m glad I got that nonsense out of my head and hit a multiple of 100 on Thursday.
Nice work on the 500 deadlift my man
