ActivitiesGuy Log III: Now Contains Westside Conjugate Like Substance

As complicated a process as it is, I think adoption should be on more people’s radar. My wife and I have decided that should we want another kid, that’s the route we’ll go. Our society advocates for “adopt don’t shop” when it comes to pets, but why not children? There’s so many kids that need it.

If I were to have kids, I’d definitely adopt. It’s a win- win, I don’t have to deal with pregnancy, a deserving child gets a good home

You’re a college freshman. This is fine. Your pre frontal cortex (higher order thinking, planning, personality and empathy) hasn’t finished growning yet. You’re a child in a grown woman’s body, and that’s okay.

Maybe you’ll want kids later, maybe you won’t. No biggie. The human race will live on.

Um, no offense guys, but maybe we can have the conversation about having kids somewhere other than my training log? I don’t mind that much, but it’s just a little weird to pop into my training log and see 10 new posts about whether a college freshman is going to have kids one day or not…

Speaks volumes about how many people check in on this log though.

That 700 pull will probably be the most anticipated event in T-Nation, now that a physique photo from @Yogi1 seems unlikely.

I like checking this log from time to time even though I already have an idea what I’ll see. The training doesn’t make sense as per “conventional training wisdom” goes, but it’s proof that hard work and consistency beats the new shiny program that comes up every so often

Gave 585 a real smooth ride. Definitely pumped to take a whack at 600 on 12/31 to cap 2019 (would be the first time over 600 since…I think May?) and kick off a real run at 700 in 2020.

Smooth is right dude, a slow rep but never stopped moving or even slowed.

Any different plans on how you’re going to approach this?

Nice smooth pull mate. Were you intentionally moving it slow and smooth or was it just cause it’s heavy?

Ha! I’m not nearly strong enough to play that sort of game. That said, I have played a bit with my pulling style which results in a slower but smoother pull.

I used to do the Eddie Hall-esque thing where I went into a deep squat and then came up just enough to start the pull before breaking the floor. That had an advantage (got my quads into the pull from the beginning and took some of the load off the lower back) but it screws with your leverages a little - because of the shin angle at the beginning the bar doesn’t come up in the shortest path of a straight line, but it kinda swings out at the beginning and then I have to drag it back up my thighs. I’d come off the floor quick and then slow when I had to get “around” my knees, and it was tough to finish the pull with really heavy weights. So I’ve changed my pulling style to start with the hips higher, which makes it harder to break the floor but also makes for a smoother pull. I’m no technique wizard nor a strength writer, but maybe I’ll take a video of myself pulling each way and post it here to explain.

At this moment, not really. Just gonna rededicate to the Daily Dose Deadlift approach with a weekly squat workout.

Either way it was a strong pull mate. I just remembered you dropping into your pull a little more in that past. Will be good to see how you progress next year.
