Achieving God Mode

@Spar, teach me how to be so terse.

@Samoth, most appropriate gif award goes to you.

@Jake, fo sho brah, so much lamentation

@Jacob, LOL thanks man. Still barefoot for back squats but shoes for front squats.

===============================

PM
Warmups: 20 pushups, some shoulder mobility

Bench:
60kg x 5
80kg x 3
100kg x 1
110kg x 1
120kg x 1 - elbow said no to going heavier
Form sucked, weight felt okay.

Bench Lockouts:
130kg x 1 x 5s
140kg x 1 x 5s
150kg x 1 x 5s
160kg x 1 x 12s - felt easy and awesome!
Man it feels so sweet to hold this much weight in your hands. I was doing them with a full and proper set up as if I were about to bench, so I was unracking all of this by myself and it felt really easy. Very pleased since in the past I have been limited by how much I could unrack by myself.

Feet Up Bench:
60kg x 20
Meh

Power Cleans:
60kg x 3
70kg x 2
80kg x 1
90kg x 1
The weight flew up, and I was damn near to catching the 90 while standing up pretty much straight. Just not confident to go heavier right now without a platform and more plates.

Notes:
Was absolutely wiped out after yesterday, tendinitis in my left elbow is pissing me off and the weather is fucking shit. But the workout turned out pretty good in the end and the ego boost of so easily holding 160kg certainly helped.

Really need to remember to heat the elbow tonight before bed!

<— looks up terse … feels good
LOL @ pic
teach me how to unrack heavy weights … that’s the hardest part of the lift for me lol

Solid workout dude. What’s you reasoning for the cleans one bench day? I usually throw them in on lower body day but maybe I’ll try them on some other day to keep it interesting.

Will definitely have to try unracks with heavier weight, I’m getting there because of home power racks being so much better then gym bench press’s, so it will be important to know how supramaximal weight feels in my hands for bench maxing in a few weeks time.

@Spar, lol, brah I haven’t even unracked more than you can press yet. But it’s all in the setup, mine is pretty fucking tight and efficient.

@Austin, thanks brotha. I often like doing upper and lower in the same session. I also wanted something explosive after all those slow lifts. Plus power cleans are fun and I feel like I can do them pretty often without hampering recovery too much.

@Jake, it’s a great confidence builder, definitely recommended!

AM
Warmups: shoulder mobility - lots. Got nice and warm.

Strict Press:
60kg x 1
60kg x 3
65kg x 2
70kg x 2
75kg x 2 - 1rep PR outta nowhere really, pleased!
70kg x 2 x 5 - Volume PR gruelling
70kg x 1 x 5 - All Kindsa Gainz fun
Fuck yeah, strict press.

Notes:
So I basically just spent half an hour smashing the shit out of this lift and it felt awesome. This morning I was cycling through my memory banks of exercises and when I landed on strict presses my body just went “yup” so I gave it what it wanted.

I planned to just work up to 75 for a single before all those doubles, but it felt so light I couldn’t resist the PR. I tweaked the right side of my neck during the second rep though because my form got ugly but it didn’t affect my lifting.

70kg is 90% of my 1rm. I didn’t eat before this workout. My shoulders feel amazing now.

This was fun.

===============================================

In other news, this morning I weighed in at 85.9kg after a shit and before eating. This means I’ve gained 1.5kg in the last three to five weeks. On its own that’s not particularly noteworthy, but check these numerous confounding factors out:

-I have got noticeably leaner
-I have been eating significantly less overall (down from about 4k - 5k cals a day to 2.5k - 3k)
-I have been eating more ice cream and Nutella though
-I’ve been trying to maintain my weight
-In the past I have had to fight balls out for every single pound of weight gained, so it’s very unusual for me to gain without trying
-I have been doing more cardio

I don’t know how the fuck this is working but I’m gonna go with it!

Great PRs, your “instinctive/badass” training reminds me of Chaos & Pain a little. 84.6kg here bro, we be ripping up da 90kg class in no time. The above sounds very much like gains. Bodyweight is weird, I weigh 2lb more in the morning today then I did yesterday.

Strong pressing!

Omg you guyz are so heavy. I’m < 80kg
And you’re even eating Nutella. So jelly.

You eatin dat cookie n cream icecream?
and nutella, oh man. That and bbq sauce are the breath of life. My weight gain goes like that when i drink milk, soon as i take milk out i lose like 4kg lol.

it’s cuz you’re stronger brah

Hey jab1-brah,

Im about 90kg at the moment myself. So we should be really comparing out lifting numbers.
I dont see you logging about your cardio much? And what is your diet like? Nutella? Cookies and cream icecream?
Its time to to go God-mode with your diet buddy!

It may be bro-sciency, but honestly you’ve hit some decent PR’s lately… You are FORCING your body to grow. lol Good job though brother.

X2 on the resemblance to Chaos & Pain

in for accidental recomp gainzz. SFW and you shall be rewarded.

also, nice rack, how much

PM
Warmup: 20 bodyweight squats

Bottom Up Zercher Squat
60kg x 3
80kg x 3
100kg x 2
120kg x 1 x 5 - Default PR brutal!
Fuck these are tough. Lower back got pumped to shit, forearms screaming and quads and hams squeezed to death to get the bar moving. Masochistic fun.

Rack Chin/Bodyweight Row Hybrid:
BW x 15
BW x 15
BW x 15
So I used the spotter bars of my cage to do these. One for my hands, one slightly lower for my feet. The result didn’t feel like a rack chin - nor did it feel like a bodyweight/inverted row. Strangely couldn’t pinpoint where I was feeling these in my back but I tried some pullups after these and could barely manage one rep so I know they’re doing something!

Abs:
A1. Incline Crunches: 30 / 5kg x 22
A2. Twisties: 5kg x 30 / 5kg x 30

B. Plate-round-the-head: 10kg x 10 each way / 10kg x 10 each way

Notes:
Breathing heavy after this. Abs are thrashed, lower back is bloated with blood. Strangely my legs feel really good, albeit tired. Very fun session.

Video:

I just remembered that I cut creatine out too. WTF?!

Thanks man. I remember when I first read Jamie’s stuff I was like “shit, maybe I’m not so crazy after all?”. He’s a big source of ideas for me.

I always imagined myself in the 82s, but we’ll see how it goes. I feel like my frame can carry a lot more size!

Thanks brah. IKR this is the heaviest I’ve ever been. If you’d told me when I started working out that one day I’d be a fairly lean 85kg I’d have laughed in your face.

It’s been a mixture of chocolate, strawberry, mint choc chip and vanilla. Slathered in Nutella. <3

My cardio is different to your cardio lol. HIIT, complexes and crossfit style workouts for me. Nothing longer than 10 minutes normally.

See ice cream selection above. It’s just cheap stuff. Diet is primarily lots of meat, fish, eggs, potatoes, white rice and vegetables. I eat well.

What’s bro-sciency? But thanks man, that’s the idea. Force gainz out.

Big props to C&P.

My beautiful steel cage was just under £300.

hell yeah brah

sounds fabulous

No YOU’RE fabulous Spar.

PM
Warmups: some should mobility, not that much

Paused Incline Bench:
20kg x 15
20kg x 10
60kg x 5
80kg x 3
90kg x 2
100kg x 1 -this is a tie PR. Could have gone heavier but didn’t want to max out because I had a hankerin’ for volume.
90kg x 2 x 15 - Huge Volume PR.15 doubles at 90%.
These felt fucking awesome. Getting so much power off my chest after the pause. Chest got a sick pump. Elbow didn’t hurt too badly. Pretty insane poundage PR for me -my previous best with this weight is one max triple. Took about 20-25 minutes for all of this as well.

Pendlay Rows:
60kg x 3
60kg x 3
80kg x 3
100kg x 3 - Default PR loose form though
80kg x 3 x 5 - pretty nice
Dat lower back pump! Quite liked these actually. I’ve never done them before but these were a good way of working my whole back without going super heavy (because I couldn’t, lol).

Reverse Flyes on Rings:
20
Dat mad pumpz.

Notes:
Superhappyfun session, absolutely pounded the living fuck out of those incline presses; I was totally in the zone. I’ve never had such a good pump from low reps before either. Pendlay rows were a great new thing to try.

I’m pleasantly surprised because I woke up feeling like a monster truck had repeatedly and deliberately run me over during the night because I called its mum a bitch - no doubt it was actually the doing of those malevolent Zerchers. My lower traps/mid back area has never had such doms.

New day new PRs.

2 plate incline is pretty sweet.

Congrats on 2 plate incline. Training cool as usual, you doing 100% of it in your home gym it seems? I am doing the same at the moment, I enjoy it for awhile when I’m keeping training basic.
Jab1 wrote:

Whats with the volume jab1-brah?

tweet

@Samoth and Jake, thanks brahs. Jake, I’ve been 100% home gym (minus that one trip a couple weeks back to the local hardcore gym for deadlifts) for about a year now! I enjoy it a lot. I do like various machines and cables and stuff but I’m still having a lot of fun without them.

@BirdBrah - because FUCK Mike Mentzer and his HIT cronies that’s why.

But seriously, I’m a volume whore; I love to train and high volume lets me do more of what I love. Plus it gets me bigger and stronger more effectively than most other things I’ve tried. I properly realised this after trying HPMass by CT - that programme wasn’t ideal for me but most of the principles were.

=======================================

PM
Warmups: 10 bodyweight squats, some calf rolling on the bar

Paused Squats:
60kg x 5
100kg x 3
120kg x 1 x 5s
130kg x 1 x 3s
140kg x 1 x 5s
150kg x 1 x 2s - Default PR
These felt pretty awesome.

Squat:
160kg x 3 - 1rep PR
Stoked to hit this. Weight felt massively light on my shoulders and the first two reps were easy. On the 3rd rep I lost the groove backwards and then came forwards - the bar nearly won, even pushing me back down at one point, but I showed it who’s boss in the end.

Paused Bench:
60kg x 1 x 5s
80kg x 1 x 5s
100kg x 1 x 5s
110kg x 1 x 3s
120kg x 1 x 3s - Default PR unracked this horrifically badly but it felt easy
125kg x 1 x 0.5s - pretty half-arsed pause but a long arse hold at lockout
120kg x 1 x 3s - as redemption for the previous
Really struggling with my groove on bench lately. Need to up the frequency. It keeps drifting backwards - is that just loose technique or a sign of a weakness somewhere?

Band Pullaparts:
70
Need a harder band.

Notes:
Felt like death warmed up this morning so didn’t do an AM session, but was raring to go by the PM. Session went damn well - smashed a whole load of heavy weights and generally felt pretty good.

It was nice doing the squats before bench - holding the rack position on squats stretched my pecs out really nicely as they were quite tight before the session, but after squats they were ready for benchin’!

It was nice to go low volume todayâ?¦ Even lifting at over 90% of my maxes on each lift it still felt almost like a recovery day.
