Achieving God Mode

Nice benching big guy, climbing the ladder, what are your short term goals?

Thanks Phlegms!

Austin, short term goals are a 140kg bench and 180kg squat.

It makes me feel giddy and insane to even say that 140kg bench is a short term goal - it seemed impossible when I started out.

And obtain Zeus beard

lol, working on the beard! It’s not my strong suit though.

Yesterday was a wipe-out… I woke up with a splitting headache and then kept falling asleep. Decided to take the day off from training - wise decision.

AM
Been itching for some time now to deadlift heavy, so I went to my local hardcore gym and chalked 'er up.

Deadlifts:
60kg x 5
100kg x 3
140kg x 2
160kg x 1
180kg x 1
190kg x 1 - tie PR and the heaviest I’ve gone from the floor in a year at this point
200kg x 2 - 10kg & 1rep PR fuarr, super stoked, didn’t even feel that hard!
So it turns out you can definitely improve your deadlift without deadlifting! Strength wise that top set didn’t even feel too hard - I only wanted a single but once I got it up I knew I was good for 2. Technique and form isn’t totally on point, which is to be expected, but overall I’m very pleased.

Strict Press:
20kg x 5
30kg x 4
40kg x 3
50kg x 1
52.5kg x 5
55kg x 5 x 4 - last two sets were very hard
Shoulders were absolutely screaming by the end of this! I was using a slightly thicker bar than I’m used to, which might be the reason. Still got the work done, very pleased with that volume.

A1. Donkey Calf Raises: 30 / 30 - not sure what the weight was
A2. Back Extensions: 10 / 10
These felt sweet. Got a completely ridiculous burn in my calves which felt awesome. I definitely need to train them more! Back extension was sweet too. Only thing this gym is really missing is a GHR - might have to mention it to 'em.

Notes:
Called it there as I had to ride back and didn’t want to fall off my bike lol. All in all, I am well pleased with this session.

Afternoon session was pretty lame, just totally lost all my energy.

smooth like butter

Good pull brother. Looked like you had a few more honestly.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I think I definitely had more in me… But I figured I wouldn’t push it given the circumstances. Hopefully I’ll be able to get down to that gym more often and see what I can do.

I think if we lifted together, you’d make me look bad wit yo strunthh

Tugs looked easy, definitely 1/2 more in you. Looking forward to a 220kg pull falling in the next couple of weeks!

Damn thats a strong and pretty deadlift!

Keep it up Jab1

Thanks guys.

Completely shattered for some reason today. Didn’t really want to lift, but just went and did some squats. Worked up to a heavy double (160kg x 2 - tie PR) and called it.

Poor thang. Don’t let your smex fade brah.

Sometimes I feel like it’s fading. My life is a constant ride of ups and downs of me either feeling like I’M THE FUCKING KING AND FUCK YOU or like I should just curl up in a foetal position in bed all day. I’m rarely in between.

Although I “feel” pretty good from a purely analytical stand-point - I can tell I’ve got stronger, and lost fat while maintaining my weight in the last month so that’s good.

I got ya mang. I know dat feel. Life is not a single mountain but a mountain range with upward cascading peaks with the highest peak ideally being followed by death (of course that would depend on your ideals). The point I’m trying to make is life isn’t linear. It defies all mathematical and pragmatic logic, but as long as you are working towards something greater, an evolution, you can’t go wrong.

I’m totally with you.

I don’t understand how people can just be content to stay the same… I know that often times they’re scared of the kinds of lows I experience and so they choose to stay level.

But it means they never experience the highs - they never see the view.

If you live sea level and try to hang in the mountains, you’re too weak to sustain yourself in the thinness of the air. It’s that initial pre-adaptation process, when you suffer, that scares people away.

Don’t worry bro, I still think you’re cool!

Sounds to me like you need a good woman to cuddle (NO HOMO)

SPAR please become a philosopher and make a movie similar to the matrix.

@Spar. Eloquently put.

@Phlegms, thanks brah. :slight_smile:

@Jacob, luckily I had a good woman to cuddle this weekend (no homo) lol

===========================================
4th June (Yesterday)
AM
Warmups: 20 bodyweight squats

Squats:
60kg x 8
100kg x 5
120kg x 2
130kg x 1 - this felt so crappy, nearly called it here
140kg x 1
150kg x 5 - 2rep PR outta nowhere!
150kg x 3 - former PR
Was not expecting that at all, had zero motivation going in to the session and felt very low energy too. But once I hit the set I knew I had five, and could possibly have got 6. Big PR, I’m happy!

Power Cleans:
60kg x 10 - reset the bar each rep
Hip action felt pretty snappy.

Ab Fallouts On Rings:
20 - 5rep PR
10
It’s amazing how much stronger I’ve got at these in such a short time. I think it’s making a difference with me squats too, I’m finding I can stay upright much better lately.

Notes:
So the session turned out really well despite unpromising beginnings. Nice!

Video:

PM
BORs:
20kg x 10
60kg x 8
80kg x 5
100kg x 3
120kg x 5
Meh

Bodyweight Rows On Rings:
10
10
10
10
These felt pretty sick.

Barbell Curls:
20kg x 10
30kg x 5
40kg x 12 - PR strict, getting looser as I went
40kg x 8
Da pumpz.

Notes:
Yayy upper back and gunz.

Solid set man and great deadlifting the other day as well.
