Achieving God Mode

So after yesterday’s fail I’m going to start training with my brain again. This session was pretty awesome. I also tried something different with music; I put some pretty chilled country rock on. It calmed me down and my focus during sets was REALLY good without any of the anxiety I often get. During the strict presses I felt dream-like. Nice.

I’ve found the same thing recently. Some music gets me overhyped, which seems to be detrimental (at least for me) when lifting. I need music that somewhat soothes me and lets me get myself under control. You hit the nail on the head with the ‘dream-like’ wording; not just going through the motions, but an intense yet mellow focus.

Good lifting though. Sucks about the calf, but maybe it will allow some time for you to focus on other aspects of lifting

This forum is pissing me off today, I’ve had three posts not go through now. Very annoying. Last try for today.

Austin - that’s exactly my plan bro. It’s frustrating because I can’t do squats, cleans, snatches, push presses burpees… But I’m seeing it as an opportunity to focus on other stuff!

AM
Warmup: 15 band dislocates, 20 pipe dislocates

Strict Press:
20kg x 5
30kg x 4
40kg x 3
52.5kg x 5 x 5 - nice.
Felt pretty awesome.

Paused CG Floor Press:
20kg x 15
60kg x 5
80kg x 5 x 5 - Jazz Club.
Also had my legs flat. These felt nice and solid and the sets got easier as I went along.

Band Pull-apart:
50
Sick burn!

80kg x 3
100kg x 3
120kg x 3

Felt pretty nice. Fairly strict until the last few reps of the last set too.

With a two-count squeeze on the contraction. Tasty.

Shrugs:
100kg x 5
120kg x 5
140kg x 5
My annual shrugs. Last did these about a year ago lol. My traps don’t need them for size but I guess they’re comparatively weak.

Notes:
Pretty good session, got the blood going.
Thats some sweet lifting brohim

Maybe you want to borrow my iPod.

I select my music depending on how Im feeling and also take into account what Im doing. I have everything from classical music, trance, croatian music, 2pac, dance and various other types of music. Sometimes half way through a session I change my mind and change the album, and that can sometime help.

@Spidey, thanks dude. Totally agreed, and yeah that’s my plan although I am seriously missing squats!

@Flo, thanks brah!

@BirdBrah, haha yeah man sounds like I good idea, I’ll come see you next time I’m in Oz.

PM
1A. Pullups: 10 / 8 / 6 / 4 / 2

Pullups are boring me lately.

10s
Best ever.

Notes:
Got the work in but head nor heart was in it today. Just doing it because I knew I’d kick myself if I didn’t. You know, sometimes you do things not because you want to, or have to, but simply because it’s the right thing to do. That was today for me.

I had the same thing with my last two training sessions, sometimes the head isn’t in it but pushing through it and getting the work in is what separates us from the other “gym plebs”. Gains were made bro!

Haha yeah bro, never a gym pleb!

AM
Warmups: 15 band dislocates, 20 pipe dislocates

Strict Press:
20kg x 5
30kg x 4
40kg x 3
52.5kg x 5 x 5 - got easier as they went along
Fine.

Bench:
20kg x 10
60kg x 5 - tried a wide grip, hated it and wanted to kill its parents
80kg x 3
95kg x 5 x 5 - some reps felt like speed work!
Staggered in 15 reps of band pullaparts between each work set. Pretty good.

Notes:
Felt like crap going in to and during the session but felt much better when I finished. Improved and ached less as the session went on.

PM
Warmups: 15 band dislocates, 25 pipe dislocates - closest my hands have been yet at the end there

Strict Press:
20kg x 5
30kg x 4
40kg x 3
52.5kg x 5 x 5 - last couple sets very easy
Really enjoyed these. Focused on getting my glutes and abs REALLY tight. Made some difference.

Bench:
20kg x 15
60kg x 6
80kg x 3

Comfortably dominated all these sets despite some aches.

10s
Feeling very good about these lately. Body awareness in space and control has improved tonnes.

Abs:
Did a whole bunch of stuff including hanging leg raises, incline situps, twisties, and weighted planks. Felt AWESOME.

Notes:
Again felt like crap going in but awesome at the end. Really enjoyed abs for probably the first time ever in my life - dafuq? Pretty great session all in all despite no fireworks or PRs.

Putting in the work = PRs to come… that’s the good thing.
jake_j_m wrote:

That’s basically what I was gonna say.

Just keep going, they’ll come.

Yeah boyyeees. It’s all part of my master plan.

what’s next brah?

Next Goodman Spar is a volume phase. Next four weeks are not going to be heavy but will gradually building up the reppage and total poundage. Less skill oriented and more just building work capacity and conditioning. That means there will be cardio. :frowning: Need more of dat dere mitochondria bro.

Monday 21st
AM
Power Cleans:
3 on the minute for 10 minutes
Total reps: 30 - Volume PR

Bench:
20kg x 15
60kg x 5

90kg x 2
100kg x 5 x 5
Everything felt thick, solid, tight.

Decline Bench:
80kg x 10 x 3 - dat pump
Man, I never do these so they felt super awkward. Still, good to mix it up a bit.

Band Pullaparts:
50 reps - constant tension

Ring pushups:
25 - DROP -
Pushups:
7 - lmao!
Crazy. Left some in the tank on ring pushups, dropped to regular and fried out in record time. Damn. Great pump.

Notes:
Pretty sweet session. Loving the volume. Feeling good, although I’ve finally started getting ab doms from Friday’s session LOL.

Tuesday
AM
Warmups: 15 band dislocates, 20 pipe dislocates

Power Snatches:
1 rep on the minute for 10 minutes
10 total reps - Volume PR
Pretty big PR. Technique frikkin’ sucks but was improving towards the end. I keep pressing out.

Notes:
Felt like fucking balls today. Not enough sleep or food.

Good. I thought you quit lifting.

I’ll be dead before I quit lifting.

AM
Warmups: 15 band dislocates, 15 pipe dislocates

Strict Press:
20kg x 5
30kg x 4
40kg x 3
52.5kg x 5 x 2
55kg x 5 x 2
57.5kg x 5 - best set
Felt pretty awesome, everything felt better and stronger as I went along.

Paused CG Floor Press:
60kg x 5
80kg x 5 x 2
85kg x 5 x 2
90kg x 5 - again, best set
Jazz club. Legs were also out flat.

Notes:
Pretty good session. Traps have got doms like a motherbitch right now. Lats, bis and abs tonight. Suchabro.jpg.

Also today my workout music was Sigur Ros. So relaxed… Really helped calm me down. Training this often I need it because I get overstimulated so easily.

PM
Back Lever - Tuck
10s

10s
10s

Actually timed the last three sets. These felt pretty uncomfortable today, probably because I didn’t warm up. =/ Form was good though.

Deadhang Pullups:
10
10
Sofaking bored of pullups. Needed to switch it up so changed toâ?¦

Rack Chins:
+10kg x 10 x 5 - Default PR
Fucking love these, lats got really toasty and got in a whole bunch of volume.

Abs:
1a. Hanging Leg Raises: 5 / 5
1b. Twisties: 5kg x 20 / 5kg x 20
Twisties are sicknasty.

Weighted Plank:
+10kg x 1minute
Pretty tough. I suck at planks.

Notes:
Couldn’t be fucked with biceps because bizarrely they are full of doms anyway, but this was a pretty sick session in the end. So bored/disheartened with pullups right now so switching to rack chins was a really good decision. Gonna get lots of volume with these, add weight and grow wings. Abs were actually more fun than pullups - whatdafuq is wrong with me? Anyway, today was a good day. Weather is good, got some vitamin D, didn’t burn (I am pasty!), did a shit load of reading and some writing. Good day.

Solid training how is the calve?

yar how do?

and did I read right, you got your motorcycle license? whatcha ride? (gawd I miss mine)
austin_bicep wrote:

Thanks for asking bro - it seems to be doing a lot better. I’m still going to keep squats to a minimum for a bit but I’m back on the cleans and snatches. Just easing it back in to the game. I know my legs are going to kill when I get back on the squats!

Yeah, partially right lol. I did my Compulsory Bike Training - it’s mandatory before getting a full bike licence in the UK. I can only drive 125s and can’t go on motorways and have to have L plates fml! It’s a Honda CBF125. It looks the part at least!

But I don’t mind that it’s not a beast… The extra freedom is enough for me.

Sometimes I take off of a lift for a few weeks and come back fresh and stronger. Hoping the same for you buddy. I would love a bike, but Ninja 1000 or something, so affordable, but very risky as you’re now open to much more serious danger on the road, that’s the only thing holding me back.

Whats tendinitis in your calf feel like?

Your training always looks so interesting and well thought out, would love to see what you could do for a chaotic, a.d.d based training style like mine!
