Great mini-article Jab1. The never-ending journey of self-improvement is what it is all-about.

Ps. People asking you about quitting after you met a goal is like people asking a guitar player about quitting guitar when he for instance can play a Hendrix solo.

Further to this, if I could play Sweet Child of Mine all the way through, I wouldn’t consider my life complete. Even if I could never learn anything else I would still enjoy playing it for what it’s worth.

Ya digg?
yhea I digg, except sweet child of mine aint my cup of tea LOL
Ha.

However, if you can play “Through the Fire and The Flames” all the way through, perfectly, then you’ve more or less just won the Sandow.

Real life brah, harder then expert mode

@Spidey, god you are way too kind. And my new best friend haha.

@Spar, LOL I would love to hear your impression of my accent. I might record me giving that article as a talk so you can learn :stuck_out_tongue:

@Flo, glad you liked it brah.

Deload
Warmups: 20 air squats

Front Squats:
20kg 5
60kg x 4 - felt surprisingly light
80kg x 3
95kg x 5
Everything felt easy but my calf started acting up after that “top” set so I cut it there. Supposed to be recovering after all.

RDLs:
60kg x 15
Nice’n’easy.

Notes:
My calf is pissing me off now. I know really I need to just not squat for a week but taking a deload is hard enough for me as it is, let alone not squatting at all. :frowning: Otherwise form felt good and the weights felt light as they should do.

Playing it smart is always a solid choice.

I never said I indulged in such a thing, just that its a wise choice…

That was beatiful.

Regarding your calf; could it be a neuroma? I dont know how common they are in calves, but Im getting an ultrasound done next week to check if I have one in my lateral heal area.

Where abouts is the irritation in your calf? Is it localised to one spot? Is the calf itself generaly tight? Ever try a strassburg sock?

tweet

Careful on the calf. I almost tore my soleus in half ignoring a similar strain. 6 months of ultrasound :l

My post from yesterday seems to have not shown up. Annoying. =/

Phlegms I am totally heeding your wise words - not gonna squat tomorrow as much as it pains me.

@BirdBrah, the inflammation is at the bottom outer edge of my calf, where the tendon and calf meet. It’s fairly localised but slightly diffuse - there isn’t a “pain spot” for me to press that hurts. Never tried a Strassburg but never had plantar fasciitis or sore heels…

I doubt it’s a neuroma, the symptoms are pretty typical inflammation and I’ve had a doc check it out. Hope there’s nothing too serious with yours!

@Bambi, damn brah, hope you are heeling up better now!

Yesterday Deload
Warmups: 10 band dislocates, 10 pipe dislocates

Pullups:
5
10kg x 5
10kg x 5
Form felt good.

Back Lever - Tuck:
10s
10s
10s
10s
10s
10s
Loving how these are feeling now. Who’da thought THAT would ever happen?

Notes:
Session felt easy, like it should.

Today Deload
Warmups: 20 band dislocates, 25 pipe dislocates

Strict Press:
20kg x 5
30kg x 4
40kg x 3
52.5kg x 5 x 2
The weight was easy but I was lolling because I clearly haven’t done any high rep work on press in a while - lactic acid was building up after just five reps. Oh dear!

Strict & Squeezed Reverse Flyes:
5kg x 15 / 12 / 10
Nice pump

Bodyweight Ring Rows:
10
Squeezed the shit out of each rep. Nice pump.

Notes:
Too easy. Upper back feels great, shoulders feel great.

Hope the calf clears up bud!

not sure if typo or pun

Sorry to hear about your calf, hope it is 100% soon.

Shlitre and Flo, thanks guys. It’s feeling better each day, hopefully back on it big time next week.

Spar -

Will be following, there’s some damn good work going on in here. Awesome pressing especially.

Great work good sir, take care o that calf

Thanks Gmoore, glad to have you along.

Today was One Of Those Days. Couldn’t do cleans this morning because of my calf and this afternoon’s bench workout sucked because I’m an idiot. fml.

On the bright side, yesterday I passed my Compulsory Bike Training so now I can actually leave the house without getting a lift. Freedom PR

Hey, I’ll take my PRs whenever I can get 'em.

LOL @ freedom PR

Give the calf some time to heal…Rather take a week or two off now then weeks or months off later because an injury got worse.

This forum is pissing me off today, I’ve had three posts not go through now. Very annoying. Last try for today.

Austin - that’s exactly my plan bro. It’s frustrating because I can’t do squats, cleans, snatches, push presses burpees… But I’m seeing it as an opportunity to focus on other stuff!

AM
Warmup: 15 band dislocates, 20 pipe dislocates

Strict Press:
20kg x 5
30kg x 4
40kg x 3
52.5kg x 5 x 5 - nice.
Felt pretty awesome.

Paused CG Floor Press:
20kg x 15
60kg x 5
80kg x 5 x 5 - Jazz Club.
Also had my legs flat. These felt nice and solid and the sets got easier as I went along.

Band Pull-apart:
50
Sick burn!

Notes:
So after yesterday’s fail I’m going to start training with my brain again. This session was pretty awesome. I also tried something different with music; I put some pretty chilled country rock on. It calmed me down and my focus during sets was REALLY good without any of the anxiety I often get. During the strict presses I felt dream-like. Nice.

PM
BORs:
20kg x 10
60kg x 5
80kg x 3
100kg x 3
120kg x 3
100kg x 8 x 3 - add straps
100kg x 10
Felt pretty nice. Fairly strict until the last few reps of the last set too.

Bodyweight Rows on Rings:
8
8
With a two-count squeeze on the contraction. Tasty.

Shrugs:
100kg x 5
120kg x 5
140kg x 5
My annual shrugs. Last did these about a year ago lol. My traps don’t need them for size but I guess they’re comparatively weak.

Notes:
Pretty good session, got the blood going.
