Hey guys I’ve just started running Rhodes 5x5/3/1 and looking for some good accessories for a small bar bones gym?
I have a rack, bench, rack mounted cable attachment for lat pull downs, tri push downs and lower pulley for seated cable rows, dumbbells, dip section, curl bar, back extension set up, a couple bands.
All the assistance work is there to do is build muscle. You’re running Rhodes 5x5/3/1: I assume you have 5/3/1 Forever. Jim lays out a bunch of assistance work exercises there.
Use the equipment you have. It will do the trick: no question.
Pull-Ups, Dips, Incline Dumbbell Press, Lateral Raise, Bent Over Lateral Raise, Dumbbell Rows, seated low Cable rows, chest Supported Dumbbell rows, Tricep Pushdowns, Tricep Extension, Dumbbell curls, hammer curls, Bulgarian split squats, stiff legged deadlift, lunges, Dumbbell step ups, lat Pulldowns. You have so many options. Just fit these in when and where you like and pick options that fit your goals. If you love going crazy on Assistance work like I do, you’re definitely well-served to stick with lower or no supplemental work. There has to be give and take!
