ABBH without BB's. help!

Here’s the situation:

I just moved down to phoexnix for the next 5 weeks and i am staying with a friend who lives in one of those gated apartment communities.

They have a gym here, but there are no benches and no barbells, just a smith machine and some DB’s.

I am right smack dab in the middle of ABBH 1 and now i am not sure what to do.

Should I do things with the smith or try to refigure all my loads using the DB’s they have?

Just want some opinions or suggestions from anyone who has run into a similar problem. Thanks

Why not go to a local gym or YMCA that has free weights? Just pay for the five weeks you’ll be there. Get a one-month membership and ask for one week free to “try it out” before paying for one month.

I would do that, but I just came down here yesterday and have no clue where anything is yet. I am supposed to work out today. I think your idea is a good one eventually, but what should i do in the interim?

definitely use the db’s. stay away from the smith at all costs. Compensate for lighter loads, if they don’t have heavy enough db’s by accelerating the weight as hard as you can. I hope they have a pull up bar and a dip station. laters pk

I wish they had those too. But unfortunately they don’t. I just finished the bench and rows day of ABBH and used the DB’s. Get this, they only go up to 50 lbs. I am going to look for a different place today, but i must admit is is convienient having it on site

Hey,
I’m in Mesa, just east of phoenix. I belong to a gym called Fitness Works. It’s a small family gym, not the best for our type of workouts, but recently I was given two passes, each for two free weeks, for someone I know. If you’d like, I’ll hook you up with them. Again, I don’t know if you’d live close by any of them, the gym only has two locations, but let me know either way. PM me if you want.

Smallnomore,

This is precisely what’s great about the communication/information age. That’s a mighty kind gesture my friend. Way to be proactive!

if you are strong enough, you can try doing single-arm push-ups for your 10X3! great core workout, besides hitting the pecs, shoulders, and tris hard! as for the lat movement, good luck without a chin bar… maybe tie two DB’s together if it’s not too much of a hassle.

thanks for the replies. I just decided to find a gym for the month. it is a bit different than what i am used to, but they should have everything i need. BTW i did the chest back 10x5 the other day with DB’s and my pecs are screaming. I even had to drop the weight a bit to finish the session. damn chad abbh is a mother
