ABBH, 1RM, and Squats

Chad (and everyone else that has tried ABBH), do you recommend setting aside one week prior to beginning ABBH to test for our 1RM on each of the lifts?

Second question: is the heels elevated, narrow stance, high bar back squat a suitable alternative to the front squat? I have a Sting Ray, so comfort is not a problem. My problem is that after a few reps, my form goes to shit, I lean forward, the arms start to fall, and my lower back takes a beating. I would much rather perform the required reps with the back squat than get only half the reps with my front squat. What do you suggest?
