Read this article about the latest steroids in Boxing scandal, involving Shane Mosely testing positive for AAS before beating Oscar De La Hoya.
He admits to taking a banned substance but denies he did so knowingly. It seems he made a trip to BALCO labs. Oops looks like he was duped into taking those doped supplements.
Does Ripped Fuel really contain Nandralone as claimed by Roy Jones to explain his positive test.
There were several cases in the UK involving top sprinters blaming Maximuscle, a UK supplement company for their positive nandralone tests.
What’s anyone elses take on the AAS in supplements issue? Is this just a convienient alibi for the dirty drug cheats or are there really supraphysiological amounts of AAS in nutritional supplements?
Did not know about Roy Jones…No these supplements do not have anabolics in them. Those athletes are just trying to talk their way out of trouble. Most people buy it cause they don’t know anything about supplements and the are not regulated by the FDA. It was said that some time ago Hot Stuff (anyone remember that?) and Met-rx, when it came in two containers had alittle extra “help” added, but who knows.
I’d be more inclined to think that supplement companies may put something on the label that is not in the bottle, at least in the stated quantities, than put something else in, that raises the cost, and not be able to toot their own horn about it.
roy jones can kiss my ass. this guy was fighting at a lower weight, im not sure of the exact lbs. he then moved up to heavy weight. amazingly he did this without putting on one once of fat, in a real short period of time. damn i need to get me some of that ripped fuel.
I dont think muscltech got in trouble for nandrolne. 19-nor andros can test positive for nadrolne, and they used to make product that had a 19-nor andro in it. Now sometimes companies do not properly clean their machines that are used to make multiple products, so it possible that there was cross contamination. That happens all the time.
I think it is more than likely that Jones used AAS to gain weight to make heavyweight. And i think this is the tip of the ice-berg cause if Vitali Klitschko (tested postive at amateur world champs), Fernando Vargas, Shane Mosely, and Roy Jones who are some of the best boxers out there are being caught then what about the rest?
I have to scratch my head on this one. I personally knew a bobsledder who was training for the olympics and took nitro-tech religiously. He failed his drug test for nandrolone. Now I have to be honest when I looked at him I thought “Damn that guy looks pretty chem’ d up”. I also remember him mentioning problems with insomnia/ despite not noticing any signs of overtraining. Sounds like me sometimes when I’m on.
I get tested fairly often and could be tested at any time so this is a huge concern for me. I’ve contacted several supplement companies and asked them about possible contamination issues. Only one company has responded to me in writing (they do not sell or manufacture prohormones so they had no reservations) and one responded over the phone, but the others have never replied to me. I don’t know if the contamination arguement is valid for certain, but I positively avoid most supplements because most companies won’t stand behind their products.
P Dog, Roy Jones (arogant fucker by the way and I am looking forward to seeing Tyson pound the shit out of him one day) went from light heavyweight at 170 or so lbs to heavyweight at 190-195 lbs. That is 25lbs of gain and I do find it rather ironic too that he did not gain alot of fat. But we all know that Roy Jones is a super athlete according to him. Funny how he dropped back down to light heavy weight and almost got his ass whooped. Vargas was fined very heavily and not allowed to box for like nine months. He said he was not aware of what he was taking due to his nutritionist but he still took full responsibility for what happened. He popped for Winstrol after the De la Hoya fight and still lost. I do believe that some of these guys hire a nutritionist, and wa-la they start feeling good, getting some gains and they don’t question what it is that they are taking and then they get popped and they found out what happened just a little too late. Sad because you pay all this money and the guy is lying to you all the way to the bank.
Personally I think he was just taking shit and trying to use the co. as a scape-goat. However, I am also a cynical prick sometimes and tend to think people are usually full of shit. He looked like he was on to me, but I didn’t really know him well at all. Yeah, I’m a dick.
Does anyone think they can tell if someone is on? If so/or not check out my latest thread.
There have been a few cases where supplement companies have not cleaned down machines between running batches of prohormone and non-pro-h products and the following ‘clean’ batch has been tainted - I’m not saying this is what happaned in all cases but it is possible.
British sprinter Dougie Walker (i think thats his name) succesfully argued and one on this point.
The % of nandrolone in the sample will very much prove the case one way of the other.
For example - I would imagine this is what happened Greg Rudseki also - his nan reading is miniscule.
CJ Hunter on the other hand …
Having said that you’d hardly be going by his T redaings alone when making your own mind up now would you?
