A US Named Exercise?

There is what, the Cuban press, Bulgarian split squat, Romanian deadlift, French press, Turkish get up, Russian twist…The US has what? The American swing in KBs?
Damn we need to step up

Don’t you guys have one called the California Press?

I’m sure if some foreigner saw the way we curl in squat racks, they would subsequently refer to them as “American curls”, in a derogatory sense of course

Cleveland Steamer

Alabama Hot Pocket

and

the Map of Hawaii.

I’m disappointed in myself for not knowing 2 of those. It’s much too early in the morning here to google that kind of shit

I see

I forgot about Suspended Congress, very demanding exercise. It’s a lot easier if you have a third person to spot

You forgot the German hang and the Swedish chinup.

American Volume Training…Six Pizzas, a fried chicken and a diet coke.

Umm, they are called 40oz curls.

There is an American deadlift. It’s similar to the Romanian Deadlift but somehow different. Honestly, there are slightly different ideas of what an RDL are, so I’m not positive of the distinction.

They are all variations of the Semi-stiff Legged Deadlift. Giving something a whole new name just due to some fine point of variation is silly. For some reason we don’t do that with bench press. I just call them Romanian Deadlifts because its easier to say than Semi-stiff legged deadlift and its way easier to write RDL.

The “American” Deadlift is gay anyway. That extra ass squeeze at lockout is pretty much useless and overrated. It’s not really contracting against the weight so there’s not much difference between squeezing your ass while deadlifting or doing the dishes. I suppose for an inexperienced lifter it could help for activating the glutes. No use for anyone else.

Petting the lap ham, loping the mule…

Yep. And the different-but-related California Extension (or California Skullcrusher).

But, really, the most American exercise? The Military Press. Because… 'Murica.

Any exercise performed with free weights is automatically an American exercise because, like, America has freedom and stuff.

Does any body else in the world do Bench Press but Americans?

Yep, lived in Holland, Germany, Belgium and trained in a few gyms in France and just like in 'Murica, Monday is bench press day.

Can’t believe nobody mentioned Jade Helm.

That’s the biggest US-named exercise in recent history.
