hey cal… umm not really… the gym stays pretty cool. on bench day i usually end up wearing my hoodie to at least the halfway point. last time i did pullups i was in a tank and yoga pants though… so this was definitely more weight.

am killing the nutrition these last few weeks. today’s the last low cal/low carb day of the week so it’s smooth sailing from here.

so today is my sprints or sled or some kind of suck wind day.

got in a three mile walk with the little one this morning and decided to just do a quick gym stint tonight.

and suck wind i did. damn.

40 lb db snatch ss w/bw pullups: 5R/6, 5L/5, 5R/4, 5L/4
bb hang clean/push press: 85 x 5/5, 5/5, 5/5
bb stepups to 14" box: 115 x 16 steps, 16 steps

all with tiny rests. kicked my ass but shouldn’t have any effect on my workouts the next couple days.

didn’t eat high carb today. just gonna keep em in the medium range today and then have a few more tomorrow while at friends watching the games.

today was my last day at my office job.

ate great all day and then headed to the gym when i got off work.

some curling asshole changed the radio from a nice metal station to freakin slow jams… right as i was ramping up my deadlifts. it was horrible. luckily he left by the time i was squatting so i got to change it back.

workout:

hip mobility, broomstick ohsqs
deadlifts: 135 x 6; 185 x 4; 235 x 1; 265 x 1; 295 x 1
speed deadlifts: 225 x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 (90 sec rests)
bb box squats (just below parallel): 45 x 10; 95 x 8; 125 x 8; 155 x 5
leg press: 275 x 10, 10
glute kickback machine: 100 x 10L/10R, 10L/10R

here’s how this week’s nutrition turned out.

monday - 1224 cals, 31 grams carbs, zero alcohol
tuesday - 1701 cals, 111 grams carbs, 2 beers
wednesday - 1503 cals, 78 grams carbs, zero alcohol
thursday - 1233 cals, 37 grams carbs, zero alcohol
friday - 1454 cals, 53 grams carbs, zero alcohol
saturday - 1596 cals, 100 grams carbs, 1 beer

tomorrow i’ll eat a lot of carbs, have a couple beers and get in an upper workout. i’ll try to get calories over 2500 at least.

well got a wrench thrown in my day and had to run and do a favor for someone… so my workout window got slimmed way down… but i’m still very happy with how it went.

it was 5/3/1 military press day… and i was supposed to do 5 reps at 75, 3 at 85, and then max at 95. well on the set of 5 i instinctively knew damn i’m screwed. that felt way heavier than it should of. as i went to put on 85 i realized that no wonder why it felt heavy… it WAS 85. so instead of doing a single at 95 i decided to just load up 100 lbs and hope i could at least squeeze out one rep there. very happy with the triple! i swear those seated behind the neck presses come in HUGE with getting my mp to go up.

workout:

shoulder circuit
bb military press: 65 x 8; 85 x 5; 100 x 3
w8ed neutral grip pullups: +10 x 5, 4, 4
seated db press: 35’s x 10, 9

I like hearing about what you think is working for you! Congrats on the triple, triple. 3x100 is no joke. I’m struggling with my MP. Now, I might have to venture out of my comfort zone and try something new.

thanks girls! yah we are so damn lucky with this weather. shorts and tank tops yesterday. we turned the tv around and opened the window and were able to watch the games in the front yard soaking up the sun, bbq’n and playing hacky sack. it was a good time. and quite warm.

yeah nadia… a buddy of mine had suggested those seated behind the neck bb presses to me quite awhile back because he said they REALLY helped his bench press go up. well after doing them for a few weeks i got a PR on military press of 110 lbs. this was over a year ago. i just put them back in a couple weeks ago and am immediately seeing my mp go up. so can’t complain and will definitely keep them in my training for the next couple months. =+)

short and sweet and kicked my ass.

started pitching a bit on the last two fsq reps @ 130 so my hips came up first. first three reps were nice though.

deficit deads absolutely killed me.

i definitely wasn’t completely recovered from saturday’s speed pulls and box squats. i probably should of deloaded… since i’m on my rag too… but with the future being so uncertain i can’t decide when to do what. lol

oh well… then i went for a couple mile walk and took a nap in the sun in my sports bra/shorts. should finally have some color on my legs and torso by the end of next week or so. yay!
