Fancy a race to a 4 plate military press? Or a long race to an 8 plate bench? :)
As a matter of fact I do fancy such a race. Both races actually Although you have quite the leg up on the bench race. But who doesn’t love an underdog story?
Haha glad you’re on board with it! Somebody fire the starting gun!
To even it out, how about we add in a race to a 10 plate deadlift? May as well do it big lol

Not looking forward to my deload week as it just seems like its going to be boring. Do you feel they make much difference to recovery? Do you feel fresher or stronger the week after?

Haha I’m up for it. I figure the better lead you have on me with benching the more I have to push

At times deloads are boring, but at times they are quite useful. Like this week I just started my spring semester so it’s nice that I don’t have to go through a week of normal training. That way I get a chance to get used to my new schedule and work out the kinks.
If you really do feel bored doing deloads, it would be a great time to get in some extra work for say your back and/or abs. The stronger those are the less likely you’ll get injured. But of course don’t go overboard haha.
I haven’t tried skipping deloads for several cycles, so I don’t have any reference to see if I feel fresher or stronger. I would think that you could get away with no deloads for a while, but eventually it’ll catch up with you.
I figure, you may as well follow Wendler’s program as it is. You won’t lose anything with a week off. I figure and I’m pretty sure Wendler mentions that it’s better to lift today AND tomorrow as opposed to just today.
so, maybe that is why my bench went down on 5/3/1 . . . . . I would skip week 4’s deload and go straight to the next cycle lol. I figured, I was new, so my body didn’t have much to “deload” anyway
Can I get in on this MP race? I’m assuming by 4 plates you mean 2 on each side, 4 total, so a 225 OH press?

Maybe…lol. Or maybe you just respond better to more volume?

I’m all for it. The more the merrier :). My understanding is a total of 4 plates, which is 225.

Volume has definitely been doing wonders for me lately haha
Nice, I’m in! How about a closer race on bench, 315? Lol, 8 plates might take a little while
Oh, I forgot to mention, I’m really glad I ordered that Rhodiola. I actually feel like I’ve been in a better mood lately (step mom doesn’t piss me off anymore, and I’m able to crack jokes with her and make her laugh. This is saying something haha). It’s coming in handy since I’m in week 3 of HP Mass, and I’m starting classes this week. 16 hours of civil engineering classes won’t be fun

I’m up for the 315 bench, but I think Getting Closer already has that or at least is really close.
Nice! Sounds like Rhodiola will come in handy with OChem lab, biochem, and matrices haha

Yeah 2 each side, pretty sure we would all be in a losing battle if I meant 4 plates a side! Good to see you in on the challenge.

Yeah well I did 6 plates last month but cause I am in England it was 140kg about 310lbs so I guess I could be in on that race but think I could do 315 now so will leave it at 8 plates and obviously I will add on a couple of small plates to make up for the difference to make it fair
You in on the deadlifting 10 plates challenge as well?
Since this is my toughest week on HP Mass, I’m taking the higher recommended amount of 300mg a day. It’s recommended 100-300, so I’ll drop down to 200mg next week. I’m cycling it for 3 weeks on, and then 1 week off, which is recommended. I was able to talk today during my workout without it bothering me and I was in a great mood, even though the session was hell and I did a pulse fast yesterday. Usually I hate when someone tries talking to me during a session lol

Hey, I gotta be good at something :)
Yeah I know what you mean. Glad to see it’s doing wonders for you.

Awesome, man! That should be fun
Definitely! The only thing I’m tentative about is lifting raw vs geared. Right now I just want to stick to being raw.
