Comfort food indeed. So comforting I ate for breakfast also ![]()
I will get that 4 plate pull, today just wasn’t a good day.

Damn! You had me worried there for a minute! I was going to say I thought we were racing to 5 plates and then I was reading that you were going to attempt 5 when I haven’t even got close to 4 yet! lol
I am sure that you will be able to pull 4 plates now though, just got to feel right on the day.

Haha. I don’t know what made me type 5 instead of 4. But I was pretty sure I meant to type 4 lol.
Yeah, I just need to kick this fever/cold to the curb. If I’m feeling better I’ll go for it on Friday or the weekend.
Sunday 1/30/11
Bench press
Worked my way up to 255. Tried two singles w/ 245, I missed the first one and got the second one. I tried 255 twice, but wasn’t able to get it. After that I called it a day.
When I woke up this morning I was feeling A LOT better, but not quite fully recovered. Late in the afternoon I was feeling, for lack of a better word, pissed off so I decided I may as well try and channel the anger into something productive. After a few sets into the session, I was starting to feel a bit more on the sick side. Once again, I have ignored my body and went on ahead with trying to set a 1RM.
I’ll probably take it easy for real this time and just so some DB work for my upper body and speed work for my squat and DL, at least until I’m sure I’m 100%. Well you live and learn. If anything I completely bombed it right off my chest, so I know DB work should be a priority.
I also forgot to mention that I’m definitely not used to handling heavier singles. Since I’ve been doing 5/3/1 I’ve probably gotten more accustomed to relatively higher reps.
Seeing as I’m going to be on a PL team, I should probably focus on getting better/ get used to heavy singles.
Wow that’s an awesome bench press. PR?
And uhm, I don’t have to lecture you on not listening to your body? ;D

Haha thanks, I was expecting much more. 245 ties a PR, 255 would’ve have been a PR if my memory is correct.
No you don’t haha. I’ve learned my lesson. Going to keep things relatively easy for the next week or so ![]()
Nice benching man. Tying a PR when not 100%? Thats definitely a PR! I definitely am going to take a deload in a couple of weeks, give the body and mind a rest.
Keep it up buddy =)

Thanks man :). I suppose you do have a point.
I must’ve been crazy to think I didn’t get at least a little bit stronger haha.
Nice benching, buddy!

Haha thanks! Although I’m completely unhappy with it. But once I am feeling up to it, I’ll try to hit some real PRs!
After all, I do need to catch up to you ![]()
If possible, I’m going to stick to 5/3/1 but using the tweaks mentioned by Wendler to cater to PLers.
I have no idea why I never thought of this earlier.

Wasn’t there an article on here about that recently? Weird because I was thinking the same thing today. Something like 3/5/1 instead of 5/3/1?

LMAO I don’t know why either, you ARE a PL’er.
@ashylarry: Well relatively recently. Yeah it’s basically 3/5/1 with singles on 3 and 1 days. That way you aren’t going heavy in back to back weeks.
@Nikki: I won’t truly consider myself a PLer until I have competed haha ![]()
Really? Hmm… think of all the bodybuilders who train for years and years before competing. They’re still BBers though as long as it’s their goal…
And you’re on a PL team! ;D

Well I stand corrected. But inside I won’t feel 100% PLer until I’ve stepped onto the platform. After all the main goal of PLing/BBing is to showcase one’s work.
Sick bench man, 255 is a nice weight. I hope to get to that this year using 5/3/1! I hope the PL team is going well, I’ve thought about joining my school’s team as well, because there are some monsters there squatting 6 plates + that I could learn from. You definitely did the right thing if you wanna get to some serious weights in the future!
Where ya been? ;D

Thanks man! I’m sure you’ll easily get it my the end of the year. The PL team is going well, just taking it easy right now until I’m all recovered from being sick. Definitely go and join your school’s team. It’s always a plus to be around strong people and learn from them.
