A Southern Revolution - The Log of DF and TBA

Greg - Long story short: it was killing me after squatting in full gear on a monday, hurt all day tuesday, got it to quit hurting (sorta) before benching on a wednesday, but it was hurting, followed by a pop and wave of pain/nausea/cold sweat the whole bit while unloading the plates from the bar. Raising it above a certain point caused it to tighten up, and pressing hurt like crap.

I have not seen a doctor, but I talked to my dad (a doctor) and he talked to some of his friends in ortho and they all said based on my description of how it happened, how it hurt, etc they are all pretty sure of at minimum severely strained rotator cuff, likely partially torn. For now, I am just riding it out with rest, stretching, and rehab exercises given to me by PeteS. Its feeling better day by day, but its still tight and some pain if I am not careful. Hopefully I have managed to avert serious damage by stepping back for a while.

Funny thing is, I have been hurting in that same area for years, but just never acted on it cause it was never as bad as the night it “popped.” Guess I am glad it was a minor pop and not a full shred.

I wish law school had a powerlifting team, that would be awesome.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the Phelps family that were going to protest the funeral? They sicken the hell out of me. It’s sad how they think it’s ok for them to protest, because of freedom of speech. Yes, that is true, but they also forgot the act of respect, and common fucking courtesy.

Patience with the injury, it’ll come around. Keep at it on the rest of your lifts and you’ll be stronger than before. Also, unilateral pressing is good too. Helped me when my wrist was messed up.

So I donated blood today, spent my afternoon on the couch reading cases and bloating like mfer, and then decided it was a perfect night to pull. Got all the main work done, the rest was a bit rough. Hamstrings still dont work after the drop set of lying leg curls.
