I’m still happy that I built my own home gym. It’s currently taking up the second bedroom in my apartment (downstairs this time. I was on the second floor when I first began putting my gym together a few years ago).
Deadlifts, squats, Olympic lifts, sandbags, kbells and everything else I have can be used and no one can complain!
The first “gym” I trained at was the local YMCA. It was about a 15’x15’ room with wooden benches, round york dumbells and a squat rack with no safety catches. We could use chalk, grunt and do whatever exercises we wanted. Those were the days. Some guys would even train barefoot (stupid if you ask me) or without a shirt. Try that at your local Primp-N-Pump. I’m blessed to have my own garage gym.

Why is it stupid to lift barefoot? It’s not like a pair of shoes are going to save your toes or feet.

It’s true that shoes aren’t going to make much of a difference if a plate is dropped on your foot. It will, however, make a big difference if you happen to stub your foot on a plate lying in the floor or on the base of a bench/machine. Suit yourself.
