The diarrhea continued through yesterday, into last night and so far still this morning. Ive dropped 5 lbs in 2 days. But we have bigger problems: last night we had to take baby to the ER for some kind of allergic reaction… So squats are a no go this morning. I may just have to wait till Monday.

I hope everything is alright. There are something more important that squats (not many). And family is one of them.

The past few days have been bizzare. Should be back on track now. Monday ill either do my 2s which should have been last Thursday, or ill just write off last week and do 6s monday and save the 2s for Thursday.

Saturday 4/23 did 20 minutes with sandbags, EMOM with a couple breif pauses to change setup:
2x carry down and back driveway, 100lbs
8x pick up 200lbs
10x floor to overhead, 100lbs

The 200lb picks were supposed to be 1 pick, then 1 bearhug squat. I managed that for about half the reps but nearly died.
Then the 100lb overhead was too easy so go figure.

Edit:
Today, Sunday, tabata KB front squats, 50lb.
10 each for 4 rounds, then 8 each for the last 4 rounds. Quads pumped as hell. A brutal way to spend 4 minutes!

The hits don’t stop coming. Seems like 2 straight weeks of ER visits and specialist visits for various members of the family, including me, for various things all happening at the same time. On the whole things are returning to normal, but here’s the latest:
Yesterday evening I was working on the fence. Came in and showered. Standing there literally thinking about squatting in the morning, I felt like I was standing on a golf ball. Under my foot was… A ping-pong-ball-sized swelling.
Wife helped me determine it was an insect bite of some sort. I decided it must have been on my socks and bitten me just before the shower, so I checked the bathroom floor and found this:

Assassin bug I guess? It’s crazy. Anyway ER trip avoided, as the internet says it doesn’t require medical treatment. But I was limping the whole evening and still a bit this morning.

Regardless, squats anyway:
2x275 felt harder than it should
2x285 depth wasn’t right, second rep felt shallow, so I gave up:
10x2x225, doubles performed EMOM with excellent depth.
This was penance/form drill for depth.
I can’t identify what part of me was too weak, maybe it’s a confidence thing. But 20 reps at 225 in less than 10 minutes is a solid session by itself, so I feel I made a good showing considering how truly awful the past couple weeks have been outside of the gym.

Bench press up to a double at 205. Had more in the tank.

Upright rows. Cable seated rows. Triceps pushdowns.

Oh and I discovered a shit on the floor of one of the showers at the gym locker room, that was disgusting. Stank up the whole locker room. Unbelievable.

Oof, you don’t seem to be catching a break lately. Excited to see how your squat progresses though!

Lots of good work still amongst the setbacks. Scary bug is scary.

I’ve had those session where stuff feels like it’s not sticking. But to do this afterwards is a great showing of grit.
You’ll get to your goal. I know it.

Man that is a creepy looking bug.
Kudos on squatting after getting bitten by that thing right under your foot!

4/26 Tuesday
Had 15 minutes after baby duty before changing for work:
Tabata KB goblet squats, 50lb. 11, 10, 10, 10, 8, 8, 8, 8. It hasn’t gotten easier yet but my numbers have gone up every time I think.
Laid on the floor for a few seconds after.

3 rounds:
-upright rows
-curls
-leg extensions

2 rounds:
-leg curls
-lateral raises

Time to go.

Question for anyone who has used the typical garage gym accessory where the leg extensions and leg curls are the same device, with same leverages and loading for both movements:
Are you typically stronger on quads or hams, or are they about the same?
I just used the weights I was storing on there - 70lbs - and did 3x20 for extensions, could have done more, but only 2x12 for lying leg curls, and getting to 20 would have been godawful.
Is this a weird imbalance to be addressed or just typical?
IDK who to tag because I don’t know who uses these cheap little bench attachments; I’m sure @T3hPwnisher has better ones but I bet he’s tried mine…

Been a LONG time since I’ve done any sort of leg curl/extension in general. Couldn’t say.

Figured that might be the case

Same as Pwn, but FWIW, when I did do leg extensions/curls regularly, my quads were always way stronger than my hams. I think that imbalance plays out still, because my squat isn’t too far below my deadlift—like only 40-50 lbs difference—which maybe isn’t typical?

Interesting. My squat is probably 60-90lbs below my deadlift, but my hams are relatively much weaker on that attachment.

Same here…hugely stronger with the extensions.

Hugely weaker on the squat vs dead.
We’re talking 160kg vs 270+ huge.
I’ve squatted 200kg in the past. Feels like a lifetime ago.

But yeah, I can do leg extensions for Days. Ham curls are nasty animals.

Yer as Wisey said, leg extensions are definitely easier, especially on the type of bench you are using. Dont worry about the weight, just make it hard work and do lots of reps.
