I guess that makes sense given how you’re so powerful and efficient at front squats, with a more upright torso. Bummer to hear about the shoulder man, hope the issue doesn’t stick around
I exclusively Squat high bar. I don’t think this will stop you hitting 315.
Good work mate. I lay on the floor for a good 10mins after my 500m
Well I don’t think everybody can just become freakishly strong or big by powering through stuff. Why do Licis jerks his things? He’s like “only” 150 kilos. Do you think he could be 200 kgs? It’s probably is better to become more technical for him than bigger because he probably cannot. And he’s on as much juice as the others.
I switched to high bar for the same reasons. I move a bit less weight, sure, but I hated being so bent over, I was feeling less stable, and it didn’t do much for my quads
Same ahah and the staff went to check on me
I genuinely have no idea why you’re asking me about this.
This made no sense to me either ![]()
Well I meant that
Some people have no choice if they want to perform, to chase technique over raw strength or muscular size
I don’t feel my comment was addressing that topic at all.
Well TBH @T3hPwnisher and @aldebaran I’ll need both more mass, more raw strength, and better technique to add basically 90lb to my squat within the next 12 months. None of it is exclusive of the others.
That being said there are practical limitations on my performance (I care about lots of other things in life) so if technique offers a “cheat code” I’ll take it. (It won’t, but a man can dream)
Haha, yea it’s a beauty of a distance, just slightly to long to be full tilt the whole way but too short to be ease off much, really awkward to find the right balance for it.
Yea squats aren’t going to be helping the cause haha, I’m not going near that thing until my legs recover from today’s session.
7/3 Saturday
Early: 1.1 mile walk with baby
1.1 mile walk/run with 7yo (bike training)
1.1 mile walk/run with 4yo (bike training)
(Wife took the 5yo)
10 ab rollouts from knees
Later
8 minutes of calisthenics
-rollouts
-air squats
-pushups
-burpees
-planks
Last night another 1.1 mile walk carrying baby (it didn’t work, he woke up after)
This morning 200 pushups around 15 minutes, I think.
I am sucking at this! Should be able to do 20 emom for 10 minutes I feel.
Happy Independence Day.
7/4 continued.
1.1 mile walk with family.
Evening, press session to knock some of the work off of tomorrow’s planned brutality:
5 rounds
-12 BPAs
-2 pullups
-5 press (95 lbs)
@dagill2 I think I should have upped the weight per program, but my right shoulder has been hurting bad lately and I don’t intend to make it worse. Its something I can push through at this point, but don’t know exactly what it is.
I narrowed my grip after set 1 and it wasn’t as painful.
Tomorrow I’ll try to follow programmed squat weights but use high bar, possibly should lower TM but screw it, I’ll try, shouldn’t die.
7/5 Monday
Squats
5x165, 5x190, 5x210
Used high bar. Last set was brutal, looked like dogshzt I bet, and was probably too much weight as I’m trying to adapt to the higher bar.
Leg press
10x355, 8x375, 6x395
That was freakin heavy.
Walking lunges, should have been 3x20 but I did
40lbs 20; 60lbs 12, 12. Maybe I wussed out but I didn’t feel that 20 reps was doing what is intended.
Leg curls, 3x8: 130,140,150
Deficit straight leg Deadlifts
185lbs, 3x8
These felt really good
I was actually going to recommend narrowing your grip the other day when I read about your shoulder pain, but chose not to because I don’t have any science to base it on…but yeah. I think it moves more emphasis to the chest and off of some of the usual pain points. Anyway, not sure. You can make a little experiment out of it.
Good work dude.
I find the lunges and curls almost like a little break before the SLDL, I don’t push either of them very hard.
7/5 continued:
1 mile walk with family
8 minutes calisthenics (something my wife has gotten into, and I’m happy to join) during which I did 60 burpees and about 75 air squats.
T Nation has been infect by the @ChongLordUno burpee virus…
Come on @cyclonengineer mate
A virus wrecks your body
Burpees turn you into a killing machine
What’s not to love
True, your body becomes more amazing as a result, which is just like antibodies attacking a virus - sucks during the infection, but the outcome is generally much better as now one has much stronger defenses.
Behave yourself @cyclonengineer my man ![]()
