Did the above session again, no problems this time.
Was absolutely dreading it, but didn’t experience any cramping like last time.
The soreness from that session lasted about 4 days.

@atlas13 thats a major accomplishment, particularly in the face of the stress you’re going through.
The fact thatit seems easy means you did well.

Thanks man. CO was pretty happy with me. I always do better in interview type settings than anything else. Way easier to SOUND smart than to be smart lol

Headed out on a 10-day family holiday today.
Knocked out a little shoulder training.
6 sets of strict press (3x10, 3x5) very light
6 sets of BTN (3x10, 3x5).
Add in a couple pullups and a few shruggy things between sets. Top off with a set of side raises.

Amazing view, dude!

And I’ll tell you what: Between you, @Deadliftnstill, and @unicornsandrainbows, I’m able to vicariously (re-)live my outdoor adventures from times past through your logs.

Hope you’re having a great time!

@SvenG if you’re living vicariously through me, you have it wrong - I’m supposed to live vicariously. I have 4 kids from ages 1 to 9. And they are all with me on this trip.
We look at hikes and talk about how “back in the day, we would have climbed it” or even how “with one or two kids, we could make it, but not with this many”. We turn back, or don’t attempt, plenty of wonderful hikes.
Then again, at least we GO and we do see a lot of wonderful things; and as a family we are probably good for 2 or 3 miles before the older 3 kids start to get wiped out and the little one just gets impossible.

We are, thanks!

4/28 Friday and we’re back. Flew all yesterday, got in jetlagged at 10pm, most of us wide awake at 4am due to the time zones.

5am started off with
2.2 miles run
Break so wife could run
20 minutes EMOM:
…one full snatch followed by an overhead squat
…5 rounds at 75lb, 5 at 85lb, 10 at 95lb. Perfect workload, technique was dialing in toward the end.

4/29 Saturday, nothing much, but did this quick EMOM:
10 rounds EMOM:
5 BSS left
5 BSS right
5 pushups

And of course even that was enough to give me DOMS today because BSS absolutely suck. Even unweighted as above.

A mile walk with the family of course too.

4/30 Sunday
2 miles pushing stroller - started before 5 AM. We’re all so jet-lagged and waking up much too early.
Then another mile with the family mid-morning.

My right elbow is still injured. I thought laying off it for the past few weeks of training, and completely during the last couple weeks vacation, would be all I needed; but I’m wrong.
I’ll start doing some PT with a band and see if that helps. I’m thinking 3x10, with a very light band or 5lb weight, of biceps curls, in each of 3 positions: underhand, hammer, and overhand.
I’ll give that a try and see how it feels.
I have about 20 days to get it working again because I’m climbing those Spartan obstacles whether it tears or not.

1.1 mile run
10x3 squats going E2MOM
1.1 mile run

The squats were 135,145,155… up to 225. Hadn’t squatted in a while, this was perfect. The olympic drills paid dividends here, i felt myself able to sink lower in the hole and keep an upright torso.
The second mile started out pretty sluggish with my legs wiped from squats. But all good and i feel great.

I should add that after the session (which means also after breakfast and two cups of coffee) I weighed in at 175.6lb, a new low and a record for the past 10 years or longer.
I had set 175 as a target and having essentially reached it, it’s not time to relax quite yet. But soon.
It’s just 19 days until the race, so if during that time, the only weight I add is useful (IE lean), or none, it will serve me well.
Not saying I won’t have a tasty snack in the next few days, but I’m going to keep being disciplined overall.

I’m quite proud of this one.
Discovered a state forest with miles of trail along my way to work, so:
4.7 mile trail run
About halfway through, stopped and did:
10 minutes EMOM
7 burpees, then short bear crawl.
This absolutely floored me.
Then finished the run.

5/6 Saturday
8 continuous minutes of pushups, planks, and BW squats.
Deadlift session, 10 minutes EMOM:
5x1x315
5x5x225
This should have been cake but it was incredibly hard. Weight loss and less training shows.

DOMS from deadlifts as expected: bad, and feels like a wakeup call to get back to a regular powerlifting training schedule and body mass.
But no: the race is just 2 weeks away. I need to focus on this goal a little longer.

this is the right thing to do. No harm though in starting to think about what the next goal will be and plan out some training or get some ideas from the group.

On that note:
4.7 mile (approx) trail run, with 10 pushups every 5 minutes. Total: 48:00.
Very pleased with that, felt great!
I’m thinking I do this trail one more time before the race.
The actual race is a bit longer (6 mi) and way more obstacles (every 0.25mi approx). I do feel ready for it.
