Sunflower seed butter is the bomb for sure. Also a fan of almond butter and the “mixed nut butter” you can buy at either trader joes or Costco.
And to make it into rocket fuel, you can mix it with avocados.

In 2011, I was on deployment and this band flew out to the ship. They filmed the videos there. I and most of my department were rather salty and had no interest in participating or even condoning this kind of fluffy bullshit. I’m either on watch, doing unpleasant maintenance, or (god forbid) eating, sleeping, or showering (what a privelege). And here all these topsiders get to fuck off and party, and gladhand with this corny band, I want no part of it.
In retrospect, I should have found a way to enjoy it. Was probably on watch during the concert but could have at least had a different mindset…
Regardless, in the years since I’ve heard this song a couple times and every time, it does something to me. Puts me right back in front of the panel… You know.
When it came on I had TOO MUCH adrenaline. It wasn’t actually great to be SO enthused before that rep, I was leaking energy through my hands and arms and effing everywhere. But I couldn’t stop myself so I ripped those plates off and ran 225 into the ground. The song was over and I was fried and felt like I’d come down off a stimulant (I imagine it’s similar to this) and now I’m still feeling the energy.
OK that was TLDR but I know Atlas has some idea of what 2011 was like for me. Maybe you can play this on the 1MC someday lol.
Oh brother, I know EXACTLY the feeling you mean. I had an XO who would blast Guns N’ Roses every unrep. Just ruined the band for me lol. You hear a song and just are flooded with the memories of all the situations you’ve been in when it played before.

My wife smelled something when she was outside the other day. Probably gas and BO lol. And she came in and told me how it flooded her with memories of the yimes she visited my ship, and how i smelled when i came home. Smell is our most powerful memory-tied sense.
Thanksgiving day 11/24. Completely knocked on my ass by flu, or something similar, which is weird because all the kids got over the flu a few days ago. I thought if i didn’t have it by then i was in the clear.
Anyway had a wonderful family Thanksgiving regardless. Being sick meant no visits and no visitors, which is sometimes better. Still managed to haul down the Christmas tree and help cook, and eat a little but not much.
Friday 11/25 woke up doing OK. Main problem at the moment is deep painful cough. So started lifting while watching baby so ma can sleep.

Thats going to be it for now. Obviously not tge standard, but better than “jack shit” considering the circumstances.

Grabbed 3 sets of 8 pullups during the course of the day.
Also, the squat DOMS is debilitating still! I attribute some of the lack of recovery in that area to the flu though.
Still sick but fully functional today, just stuffed up in the head and a nasty painful cough.
You may have picked up some RSV. I got that, followed by a sinus infection. Absolutely wrecked me: hits hard. Awesome to see you still pushing through.

11/26/22 Saturday
Still not doing well, still sticking to the plan.
BA DL Program, Week 2:
3x5x265 of rep-and-a-half sets.
Basically you pull to your kneecaps, lower, then do a full pull, all smoothly. First set was a bit more jerky but I found the groove on the second.
After that I thought I’d push my luck and go 5 rounds with the 200lb bag and burpees, doing a pick with a high front heave followed by 5 burpees each round. First round felt like an iron rod searing my lungs, went ahead and did the second round and called it quits. Took a long walk.
Any time I fully inhale or exhale it sends me into a coughing fit, and the coughs are largely unproductive and the HURT. Taking guafinesin and Dextromathorphan (sp?) OTC. Going to avoid the Dr if possible.
I have my new neck harness and really want to take it for a spin, not sure if that’s going to materialize today or not.
Haven’t posted a pic in a LONG time, I’m probably worse looking than when baby #4 was born (I was leaner then!) but mirror be damned, I’m stronger.

Anyway the point is, i went put this afternoon and started ripping out some weeds, made it less than 5 minutes of heavy work and had to come in. Every breath feels like a hot iron in the chest.

Update: flu is worse today. Went to urgent care, got a definite flu diagnosis, getting some Rx cough suppressants. Fever 103.
Won’t lift tomorrow even if i feel like it.

11/29/22 Tuesday
Yesterday wasn’t too bad, today I’m clear to go back to normalcy. Don’t feel 100% but ok.
Bench press 5/3/1 c1w2: 135x5, 145x3, 165x3, 185x3+, got 6. Not great, and felt weak, but good enough under the circumstances.
Superset: BB rows, 135lb, 8,10,12,12.
Bench press assistance: 3x8x155.
Superset: seated cable rows, neutral grip, 3x8x200. Lots of body english still.
Dips: 3x8 +0, +10, +20
ss with captain’s chair straight-leg raises, 3x20. Forgot the ab wheel at home.
About this point I ran out of steam. Did one set each of flyes, bis, and tris, and took a long shower. Hopefully tomorrow I have a deeper well.

The well was not deeper today. In fact, it felt like gravity was higher.

At this point im gassed out and just trying to contain my spasmodic monster cough. Did some more work for shoulders, lats, bis and tris. Not worth logging.
