OK,this may be of interest to some. I had this huge plateau moment this night, regarding cleans. I first started doing cleans maybe a little less than a year ago, although I did cheat curls far earlier a lot.
Around last winter I was almost locking out 70 kilos in the power clean, one legged. Then after a while,I switched from barbell lifts to all kinds of odd lifts, partially because I could not use a barbell or attend a gym. But I was still doing the same movement patterns, roughly, and thinking there will be a huge transfer.
So now it’s starting to hit autumn, one seasonal change away from being a full year, and I loaded a barbell with 81kg and yeah,I could high pull (note:single leg lifts,my dead is around 90/200) fine, but I got stuck continental, and could not lock it to finish. Disappointment after disappointment,I kept lowering a few disks until I got to my ancient 70kg (154p) and I could not move it any better than when I last tried. I felt like giving up iron for life, or giving up life.
I did a fair few submaximal and maximal lifts before and was a little bit tired,so maybe my CNS was a little fried, but I still can’t forgive the sight of this very easily. If there is a lesson in here, then maybe it is that certain lifts are more delicate neurologically than one could expect, and I’ll just have to work them in their purest form. I know I can do that, though this does not exactly encourage me.
Pretty rich answers. I have the sincerity to explain about my problems and you answer with this grade school level mockery? You know little about me and I have nothing to prove to any of you insecure, herd minded bigots taking self-serving shots at my ability based on highly distinct lifts and circumstances.
If the mods appreciate this kind of behaviour,I think I can find a better forum to talk in. My post may serve valuable to people who have, consider or have to go through a similar training phase as I.
Anyway,I figured I was having a pretty bad day. I’m feeling great again and putting up good numbers but don’t think I’ll share.

So you can do 400 lbs in the clean then, right? Can you explain what you meant?
grade school mockery? We’re calling you out on a lie. Either this thread is a lie, or you were trying to be cool and posted E-stats in the quoted thread.

I’d like to see a video of just anyone doing a one-legged power-clean. That would be awesome! Am I missing something here?
