A Dog's 531 Journey

Not sure if it fits in a deload week, but I actually got out on the trails this morning. Just under 8 miles and 1100 feet of elevation in an hour and 45 minutes. I am absolutely dead now even after a nap…

Awesome! I have not hiked so far this year, and last year my knee was too unstable. ithas rained and rained here until this week and now it is 90 degrees. I still have not completely unpacked from my move in April and my spare time has been taken up with gardening and yard work.

I am gonna have to just bite the bullet, let the laundry go, and hike! Not today, though. I have company coming in three hours and I need to at least slay the dust brontosauri.

It was great getting the bike back out on the trail but my legs are really letting me know that I’ve been slacking on the bike riding part. I could tell that I have more strength but my endurance leaves something to be desired…

Ah yes, the eternal battle between fast twitch and slow twitch muscle development…I don’t bike, but would love to get back into it. I have a friend who bikes Going-to-the-Sun Highway EVERY week! THat chick is NUTS,lol…I am not sure of the distance or the elevation…ok, looked it up. It is a 52 mile loop, elevation gain is 1850 ft, top of Logan Pass is over 6600 feet. Yeah. ANd the road (on the slight chance you have not seen it) is a narrow, two lane road prone to rockslides and drops thousands of feet long…not for the faint of heart. Many of my flatlander friends turn green even in a car! THere is one early morning day (I do not know anymore which day of the week) where they allow cyclists. Not my idea of a good time…

Aye - I don’t really like competing with cars. I’d much rather the occasional horse or hiker along with the deer and elk. The horses and hikers give me an excuse to stop, rest and say “howdy”…

Stayed up late last night (this morning actually) slept in, had a nap, drinking a few ales - I’ve declared a rest day today…

At-a-boy! All work and no play,

Nice work! Nothing says “Grow” like rest!
I actually downws a Lynchburg Lemonade lastnight. 1st real alcohol to hit my lips in a while. It was good…

Stayed up late, eating bison burgers, potato salad, and grilled corn on the cob, having a Sam Smith’s ale, and re-watched all of Generation Kill.

Today was sushi.

Yeah, I’m a slacker.

Thanks tuchavito - I’m working up slowly on the MP treating it as a continuing rehab of a problem shoulder.

Nice work, soldog. Speaking of, how is your shoulder responding to the loads?

I still get tweaks from time to time mostly when I forget to start with my scaps tight. Still get some aches after working on the computer all day as well. Just enough to remind me, you know. I will probably live with it for the rest of my life - a consequence of a misspent youth and poor ergonomics…

Hey dog, are you taking about when you do Mil press? I’ve never considered tightening up the scaps pre mil press.

Both MP and bench. On the MP, it makes sure my shoulders are back and down to start the press. otherwise they come forward on me.

Hel, I’m the same. I’ll have to try that out, Soldog. The scap tightening and forcing them back and down makes sense.

I’ve never thought about that on MP either. Trying to remember my form, and the feel of the rep, I think I do that naturally, to a degree. I know they pinch when I start pressing.
