Wow. I don’t even know how to begin to address this. Let me say, Celtic, I was once in a situation very similar to the conundrum you’ve wrapped yourself in… when I was about eight.
Flying around on the Internet (circa 1992), I so desperately wanted to be accepted by a niche group of individuals in a chat forum. I just, at the time, didn’t have the maturity to interact with these adults, and had a real complex about how they treated me - like a kid on the Internet. Granted, I was advanced for my age and often passed for someone much older, but as I spent more time interacting with this community, my lack of emotional and social development became readily apparent. Suffice to say I got flamed all to hell for it. I tried to “prove everyone wrong” and show them “how smart I was.” In reality I was just digging my own grave. As someone who was profoundly shaped by that incident, coming onto a site, beating your chest, throwing out hyperbolic remarks, and trying to prove yourself is not the way to go about it. It’s not the way to go about it in real life. No one jumps into a conversation or a forum and starts acting indignant, so don’t do it here.
You have to learn to chill. You’ve entered an elite playground. These people all know better than you do. Period. You have the combined experiences of many, exceptional individuals with more workout hours logged than you have had living. No one cares how smart you are. No one cares if you can prove them wrong.
What would I do? Start asking questions and stop arguing. Accept criticisms thoughtfully and don’t post so incessantly. You don’t need to respond to every remark someone has for you.
I really wish you luck. Having gone through something very similar to your current experience (where you’ve become the perfect whipping boy for the entire community) I learned a lot it, despite its ‘virtual’ nature. I hope you do too.

I agree with this. You guys are acting like children, desperately attacking this guy because the majority of people don’t like him. He made an honest mistake trying to bring you a quality article by Dave Tate. Somehow I doubt XcelticX is the head of some protein selling supplement company.

I’ve been an adult for 22 years. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
When you defend this little turd taster, you only embolden him. He thinks he’s made a friend. Please don’t do that any more.

No, we’re not. The majority of us are just sick of reading a troll with his incessant, argumentative, know-it-all posting. If you followed any of the other threads, he lost his credibility on this site a long time ago. This thread is just a continuation of the reactions he’s getting from the other threads. He’s alienated just about everyone on this site and the flaming he’s getting is appropriate. Stop defending him or he may be encouraged to continue.

Why would you continue reading his threads if you don’t like them?

If I had a nickel for every time someone said this…
Because I’m an active participant on the forums and I read many threads. Because I enjoy the comraderie of other forum posters so I am on this site quite a bit. Because I feel I have a vested interest in maintaining a certain esprit de corps on the site. Because human nature takes over and you do end up reading threads that you’re not sure where they’re going and then you start to see troll behavior. Because I don’t let trolls take over the place since I do enjoy it. Thus, with many other posters, we end up pointing out the trolling behavior and discouraging it. Does this clear up why I read his posts?

Wow. Every time I log on to a thread and see XcelticX I can expect some funny ass shit. You guys are too much! He’s like that kid everyone fucks with in gym class. You know the one who everyone trips, hits with the basketball, and pulls down his pants in front of the girls. I had so much fun in gym. By the way that is a great article. I remember the first time I read it over at Elite. It really motivated me to get into powerlifting.

Yes, quite nicely. But there is a difference between maintaining an ‘esprit de corps’ and acting like children on a playground, using an honest mistake as an excuse to jump on someone and harrass them simply because they are unpopular. I don’t think his intentions were malicious when he posted this.
Sometimes I read and follow them hoping that a light will come on and something will change. Other times it’s just fun to watch a meltdown in progress.
I’ll point out some differences and let you come to your own conclusion. Not that I am the best example, so please excuse that. I noticed that I have been some problems with good mornings once I reach a certain weight. Having respect for Thibs, I waited till he came on prime time and asked for his help. He promptly responded and I implemented his recomendations. Same with Waterbury and his 10x3 method. I wanted to combine the two, so a ran it by Waterbury on a recent prime time. He got back to me and said that would be a good idea. So I will now combine this info and track the progress. What I won’t do is start a thread about it and ramble like a moron while good people with solid advice try to help.
On the other hand, you have someone who started a thread expounding upon everything from his knowledge of lifting and better than average physique, to his s.a.t. scores, while claiming to be working a program from a pro, with a few changes, has made “great progress”, and rarely if ever accepts critique in a positive mannor.
So, with that in mind, I can understand why people are taking offense to this kid. He is offensive. Some might call this a scorching, a forced reduction in pride, who knows. Whatever you call it, it has been heading his way for a while. I’ve seen others get roasted a lot quicker for a lot less.

And you seem to ignore the fact that the reactions you’re seeing on this thread are carrying over from his antics on all of his other posts. He’s lost complete credibility and it’s following him where ever he posts.
If you look at this thread as a silo, I get your point. But he’s burned his bridges with many posters before this thread.

I hear ya, but look at things from my perspective. I post a good article, and about 8 or 9 guys come in a flame me for an obvious accident, even after TC confirmed that the ad was on the site in the middle of the article.
Thanks for the advice, I didn’t mean to put forward that attitude in my reply to you.

Now in this one you are trying a straw man, and a rather weak one at that. You didn’t even respond to what I had addressed in my previous post, which is that you took the one prior to that out of context.
Weak man, realy weak.
And celtic, please try to keep in mind that I am effing with you. Lighten up a little man. If you remain rigid you will break.

I didn’t reply to what you wrote because I didn’t think I took it out of context:
"mindeffer01 wrote:
So you admit to adding to that to the article?
Where the hell did you get that from? I admit to accidentally copying it with the rest of the article because it was in the middle of the article on the website I got it from.
What did you say he was doing with it?
I didn’t say he was doing anything with it. Dave finished a paragraph and right after that it said “****** protein drink”(I’m not putting the company’s name for obvious reasons)."
If you disagree, then by all means tell me exactly where and how I took what you said out of context.
Understand I’m so defensive because of how these guys immediately come in here to accuse me of being ‘busted’ like I purposely did something wrong.
rand and rainjack, you two are the only ones I recognize in every single thread I make always saying the same things. If you don’t like me, I don’t really care. But when I post a thread with obviously good intentions, don’t come in and start flaming me WITHOUT A GOOD REASON that has to do WITH THE THREAD.
Rand you just openly admitted that what you posted here has nothing to do with this thread. You’re just here to start trouble, insult me, throw out flames.
You do that, yet you’re still audacious enough to call ME immature.
Oh geez man, Ya did it again. Do you even know what keeping something in context is? You can’t just selectively cut and copy stuff without maintianing fidelity to the sequence and intentention of the writing. Otherwise you end up with chronological ambiguities and misinterpretations. Good luck with college english man, cause the professors I had will either fail you or just plain old boot your ass for stuff like that, and that was at a cheezy little comunity college.
Go back from start to finish and you will see exactly what I mean.

I understand what out of context means, and I have read it from start to finish.
“If you disagree, then by all means tell me exactly where and how I took what you said out of context.”
Here’s what you wrote:
"So you admit to adding to that to the article?
What did you say he was doing with it?
What else do you do with protien drinks?"
I’m asking you to tell me how my reply to that was out of context, thats all. I don’t want to take what you said out of context, but unless I know what you’re talking about I can’t fix it.
