A Cheerful Misanthrope

Congrats on the deadlift record

Results from Nationals: Julie’s subjective interpretation

I had one of the best lifters in the county handling me for the meet (Thanks to W.E.C. for arranging that for me) It was one of the guys from Newfoundland who competed the next day and totaled over 10 times his bodyweight. He was a total laugh and looked after me amazingly well. It would have been super better, however if he could have gotten under the bar for me.

Ouro:
Squat:
107.5kg (237lbs) → White lights
117.5kg (260lbs) → Reds lift was high
117.5kg (260lbs) → Reds - I died in the hole. I just went soft and almost went over backwards.

So much for the national squat record. I think I blew my figurative load just stressing pre-meet. The warm up room was hot as fuck because it was across from the indoor pool. Warming up for squats I felt like I was going to pass out a few times.

Anywho…

Bench:
57.5kg (128lbs) → White lights
60kg (132lbs) → White lights
62.5kg (138lbs) → Reds

My handler laughed at my bench line-up. He said it’s the tightest spread he’s seen. No big surprises here.

Deadlift:
120kg (265lbs) → White lights - easy
130kg (286lbs) → White lights - easy
140kg (309lbs) → Reds - sooooo close. I wash literally a couple inches from lockout and fought it for what seemed like an hour and couldn’t get my shoulders back. When I finally let it go, I went to the back, put me head between my knees an fought not to barf. I would have had it if I had accelerated off the floor a bit more. I will have this next time for sure.

The woman she was competing with for records bombed out in squats. Not sure if any of these are provincial or national records.

Edit: Deadlift is a new Ontario provincial record

I was disappointed with my performace. After I did some videos of Dianab and got my medal, I went to my room, crawled under the covers, crashed and had a titty suck.

When I got a grip and went back down I was told to catch myself on. What did I think? It was my first nationals, 6 months after my first meet. I stayed in the game and got a medal. There were plenty of tears and whatnot that day and mine were the least of them. Dianab has a good story. Not the least of which is that she was convinced someone had taken a shit under one of the beds in our room.

Over all it was a great experience but completely exhausting. Next year will be better now that I know what to expect.

Squat opener
107.5 kg
If you look closely, you’ll notice I’m looking up coming out of the hole. Crazy.

Bench 2nd. 60 kg

Bench set up
For some reason I kind of like this picture

DL 2nd attempt set up.

This is my change over to sumo

2nd dl complete
130 kg
Provincial record ( I don’t think I’ll register it and make it official though. )

Finally, my 140 kg grinder that I was this close on and couldn’t lock it out. I’m okay though because I fucking fought it.

I should also mention that our chiropractor was there and worked on me between my 2nd and 3rd squat attempt. So I totally blame him for losing it in the hole. I peaked in the waiting area. He had his arm wrapped around me working my erectors before I was up again.

He also watched me deadlift. He said if my second looked problematic, he was going to quickly whip my shoes and socks off and tape my feet. It would almost have been worth it to make my second look tough. However, it went up like nothing.

We’re all proud of you regardless Julie!!
Like you said, you stuck with it and this is commendable in my book!

Congrats on that record…what is next in line for you to compete in?
This one I’m going to have to spend some time thinking about. I may do a meet in Quebec in June with Dianab.

However, I believe I will be asked to be on the Canadian team for masters Worlds. I had planned on doing this but after this week, I’ll have to think about hard about it. I need more work mentally. Physically I can do a lot. I just need to work on my head. If I decide to do it, I likely won’t do anything before then.

Why wouldn’t you? I might punch you in the face if you don’t.

Great job Julie! I’ll have to get an in-depth overview next time I see you. We all need to work on our heads, you just a little bit more :stuck_out_tongue:

It costs $75 to register a record. I might have if I’d pulled 140. 130 though? meh.

Freaking Awesome job!

Great pictures, thank you for sharing.

It sucks that you are disappointed, but I’m impressed.

Thanks very much. I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. Six months ago my performance would have made me ecstatic. My personal expectation bar has risen rather quickly and I just received a big ego lesson.

I don’t care what you say. I think you’re incredible. Your high expectations are why you’ll continue to get better and better! I know that sounds cheesy as hell but what the hell I mean it.

Kick Ace, hot booty girl. I can’t wait to see how things go!!!

Get one of your friends to text me, or FB me, or SOMETHING.
So are you saying you want to be my FB?

Great freaking job.

You freakin rock! GOOD GOOD JOB! Isn’t it funny how quickly our expectations of ourselves and our abilities rise? Right now I am convinced that I would be pleased with a 200 lb bench, a 350 squat and a 405 dead but I know when I hit those I will want to go higher!

I’d start to worry once your expectations don’t seem grand!

(Love the new avater)

Ya did good Jules. It was an experience to remember for both of us.
I’m glad it’s over but I can’t wait to do it again.
