A Cheerful Misanthrope

I don’t know who’s on the lifter list, I don’t think there’s one posted anywhere, but I did get a call from the meet director who said weigh in for the Open starts at 8:30. I guess that means lifting for the Open should start around 10:30ish. There’s a Special Athletes contest that will take place before the Open. I saw some of the Special Athlete contest last year and it’s quite impressive lifting.

Thanks very much for the information. Are you lifting? It sounds as if there will be quite a few of us out to watch.

An 8:30 weigh in will be much nicer than the typical 7.


So now that it’s two weeks out from the next meet I’m doing my: look at my sexy back attention whoring picture. This morning I weighed in at 56.1kg.

I’ll give you the no nice shoes thing but I have killer legs.

The real reason is that I don’t have a car. Some how the ‘rock and roll chick on the hood of a car’ scenario is watered down when it’s a soccer mom van.

Thanks for the compliment. I love the way my back has thickened up recently. In particular my erectors. That must be from dead lifting and the shit ton of heavy good mornings I do.

Last night I curled 2 grilled cheese sandwiches with jalapeno peppers. Then I had to foam roll.

Your back looks awesome. You added quite a bit of muscle.

You and Court both seem to be getting great advice. I train alone and receive advice from my videos. It is not the same. It is great you have found someone to show you how to use your leverages to your advantage.

I don’t know how you do all the rep work with equipment. I was doing triples with my squat suit today and wanted to cry.

I look forward to hear how you and Dianab do at nationals. Base on some of her videos, you both have made amazing progress :slight_smile:

I have found everyone in the Canadian power lifting community to be crazy friendly and eager to help. I have no doubt it’s the same there. Right now I’m mostly training by myself but I post videos to the guy who’s helping me out and go the their club from time to time. I spent this evening there.

There were tons of people out. The atmosphere training with a club is so much better than training alone. I wish I could do it more. You get feedback from lifters with decades of experience and the camaraderie is invigorating.

Many of the lifters in our province are in this area so this Sunday, for instance, a bunch of us are hooking up at a local commercial gym to train.

Regarding rep work in gear, I get bruised for sure but I think I’ve found a make that’s perfect for me and I don’t feel it too much when I’m training. I may get more carry over in a size smaller but it’s working well for now.

The six singles were to play more with my foot positioning. For now I think the best is legs outside the rings and feet at 45 degrees.

On the second or third rep I did a pmpm and went ass over tea kettle backwards into the wall and very nearly smashed my head on something. You have to love the people I was training with. They all just laughed at me while I tried to get up with my belt on tight. I was kind of like a turtle on my back.

I couldn’t get 135 up at all. I think I was totally tapped out from deads. I’m not going to worry about it.

The head of the club told me he was talking to the head of the club out of Windsor who was asking how I was doing. My only competition is from his club and it will be close. I’m pretty sure we’re both after the same record. I said I’d fax my attempts to make it easier for him.

I also was chatting with another woman that I only knew by reputation. She told me she’d heard a lot of really good things about me from the guys out there. I’m getting a big head. In all seriousness, it really does my confidence a world of good to hear that.
