My weights got kind of screwed up. My i.q. drops 30 points when I’m training for some reason. I almost dropped my single on my face when one of the guys was talking about some lady coming into GNC and telling him about her ‘dryness’ issue in hopes of some assistance from him. He was quite upset so I laughed at him.

Hahaha I totally would have done the same thing. Only instead of dropping it on my face I would have laughed and got myself stuck under the bar needing to be rescued…

plus I did 13 chin ups when I got up in the morning. I just thought I’d note that to offset the loserish pull ups tonight.

I went out for lunch at work today. I rarely eat out and it was to celebrate a co-workers 10th anniversary.

The creamy deliciousness that was my butternut squash ravioli did not have a positive impact on this evenings festivities. Still, it was mmmm, mmmm good. There was squash, goat cheese, spicy pecans and rosee sauce. I really should get out more.

Glad you have your “wetting yourself” under control.

Check your PM’s… you have a female training partner tomorrow at Bill’s!

I have to say that it was great having Court join us today and I’m pretty excited that she likes it and plans to train with us. It isn’t everyone who can stomach seeing a bunch of big guys squeeze each other into squat suits and repeatedly grab their own balls trying to seat it in the crotch.

Bill was loving her and he mentioned to both me and one other team mate that he can see her breaking records. It was great watching her squat and seeing her pull 235 on DL for the first time. It’s amazing what a difference it can make when you get some good guidance.

Anywho…

This was possibly my favorite part. I felt like giggling the whole time because it’s so hilarious…

Big pressure much?

Let’s get my bench up first and maybe we can talk hahaha.

yay Court! yay Julie!

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t envious.

I think the bar I have at home weighs more than 10 lbs. For some reason when I do presses and curls at home it is harder than at the gym. I tried to weigh it tonight and I think its actually 12 lbs. Its hard to tell because my scale isn’t exactly 100% accurate.

I know I’m excited that there is finally another woman training with us particularly someone as fun and focused as Court. I think it will be great for pushing myself even harder.

Great for you gals – I envy you having others serious about improving to work with. Wish I did, but I think the only way I’m going to find other serious people is to open a serious gym.

Nice work on the dips.

Remember not to compare yourself to me - I have 30lbs on you after all. lol.

Just means your workouts will take a bit longer now that you have to share your bench and rack

Maybe your form on your squats with your squat suit on will be so atrocious that he’s not going to want ANYONE to look from ANY angle in case it rubs off on them hahaha.

So question for you - did you come up with your 5/4/3/2/1 and 5/3/1 and weight progression on your own or was that something Bill did with you? Since I’m technically 3 months away from any sort of competition, I’m clueless as to how long I should be going heavy, what sort of sets/reps to be doing and when I should back off.

If I can get him before we start tomorrow should I ask about that? I’m thinking he might want me to stay light-ish until the form/technique is engrained, but who knows.

I’m so not looking forward to battling traffic to get there :S

It made me laugh when he said that. I wasn’t comparing myself to you anymore than I compare my lifts to the guys. I do all my research on women in my weight class. All three of us

you two are getting me anxious and feeling like I want to go find a PL club to train at RIGHT NOW! I have so much crap to do before I even think about it though…school, kids, losing weight,…how do you do it?

I neglect my kids.

Seriously though, I have two kids and a full time job. It isn’t that hard to fit this in because it’s a priority for me. I live a very plain life and have pared it down so I have no trouble fitting this in.

My sister sometimes says things like I wish I had time for…(whatever) but she spends time doing things like decorating her house. I don’t. I choose to do this. Everyone has different things they focus on at any given time.

I never really had my own thing that I felt so strongly about until I started this a year and a half ago. I just supported everyone else in their things. I love the way I feel about it so I will do what I need to do to succeed.

And I neglect my kids

Court, if your PL coach has a program for you, then it’s all good. If not, look into a beginners Sheiko program. I started in July and I can’t say enough about the success I’ve had with it. The sessions are long and repetitive, but the training ingrains the correct form in your brain. I put 10lbs on my bench, 20lbs on DL and last night made a 25lb PR on squats (185, ya I’m proud).

PM me if you want more details, and have FUN! Although I love training alone, it is nice to be with other PL’ers once a week, you’ll learn tons!
I hear you about the traffic, my PL gym is downtown Montreal, early Saturday mornings (but worth it).

Shit I just noticed this is Julie’s thread, hi Julie, sorry 'bout that.

You gave me a nice little laugh. Thank you! My husband and I think of gym times like brushing our teeth or showering. We just do it. We do it instead of cleaning or tv time. Once its scheduled you’ll never think about it.
Oh I feel like I neglect my little one. I cried one day and my hubby laughed at me :frowning: After working 10 hrs then 1-2 hrs in the gym I feel like she will forget me. Oh well good for her good for me. I too neglect my child

I actually do feel a bit guilty about leaving my kids alone when I train but my older daughter is in high school. It’s more that I feel like I should be spending that time with them. Then I give my head a shake. I think I’m setting a better example for them by pursuing something that is very important to me.

Also, I don’t think it hurts them one iota that they have jobs to do while I’m out. Next week they can steam clean the carpets.

oh man you crack me up. my little one is too little to have chores yet… she terrizies the gym for now! they get to watch her grow up.
I am glad someone feels like its better to set an example. I feel guilty a lot but my mom told me i am setting a healthy life style!!

You are doing really great! I wish I could do a weighted dip… You keep me inspired. keep it up!

160x1x1 (straps up)

I’m now actively training with my new squat suit. This Saturday will be 6 weeks out from Ottawa so we’ll see how much I can add between now and then. London I did 175 with wraps and I could have done much more.

Bottom start squats
185x1x5 (from hip height)
210x1x5 (from waist height)

I love doing these but I get embarrassingly vocal. Not only will these strengthen my legs to assist the mid point of my squat but it will get me more comfortable with heavier weight on my back.

My legs are killing me today. However, so are my shoulders. I woke up several times in the night just because my joints were killing me.
