A+ Certification?

Hello,

I am planning to get my A+ certification, however I want to do it on my own. Who here can suggest the best book out there? Thanks

The latest Michael Meyers A+ Book… All of his books are excellent.

This one:

or this one:

A+ for dummies lol.
No seriously, I passed my A+ cert at 16 with that book and some computerized test software.

Better question: why do you want an A+ certification?

As strange as it may sound, this is actually good advice.

I have to agree with this… as strange as it sounds hah!

Also as nephorm asked…why would you even want an A+ cert. (not knocking it, just curious)

I agree about the A+ for dummies, i used that and passed the first time.

A+ is a great thing to do for beginners.

What computerized software? Where can I get a copy of it?

A+ is a great thing for someone new to the field… In fact all CompTIA certifications are a good thing to have (A+, Net+, Server+, etc…) in addition to whichever other certification you want (MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, etc…).

Agreed.

It’s a great foundation and it adds letters to your resume too!

If you are just getting into the field, then A+ is OK. Don’t expect for the A+ to get you a job any more. CompTIA is good because it is not vendor specific. If you plan to go further you will need to get something more like a microsoft, Cisco, Lynux, SAN, or Wireless.

I would recomend the following:

Exam Cram
For dummies - most have practice tests and a game to help you work through tests and improve your time. I also used examforce.com - Stay away from the audio cd’s. You will fall alseep or take your own life.

I don’t remember what it was called, but I did pick it up at Barnes and Noble.
