A Caveman's Quest for a 100kg OHP

I didn’t realise you were interested in cutting fat.

I kind of try keep carbs to a minimum, and take in most of them pre and post training, although saying that I don’t think it has made much difference to my body composition. Although saying that, we do have very different training plans.

Anyway your meals must suck. Do you allow yourself a cheat meal at all? Do you drink any alcohol?

lol wut? learn to cook, Bird.
Eggs: boiled + eaten with salt, fried, scrambled, poached
Liver: slow cooked with BACON
BACON BACON BACON BACON
Cheese - a million varieties!
etc etc etc etc etc
not much of a drinker, except for at parties
The trick is NO carbs! Well, less than 40g a day - that is two modest slices of bread. this shifts your body to using fat for fuel and produces ketones

Two sessions today:
Morning
Military press 66.5kg 4x4
Hang clean 10x3 60kg - rack position felt great
1 hand BB ohp 3x8 25kg
1 hand DB clean and press 35kg 3x3

Night:
Back squat 165kg 10x3 - quite easyish. my eyes hurt though

I have noticed over the past week that my conditioning is way higher than 6 months ago. Don’t need nearly as long between sets, not out of breath, warmup up weights - eg seated DB cleans - have doubled. good stuff

Pics in underwear?

as you asked so nicely…

Anyway.
Saturday Military press 71.5kg 3x3, hang cleans and rear delts

Monday Daeadlift 195kg 5x2, Sadiv deadlift 7mins 155kg x20

Today: Prowler sprint 30 3x3
Military press 76.5kg 2x1 - pathetic. losing it off the chest, need to work on starting power
Paused military press 65kg 5x3
Hang cleans, worked up to 80kg 5x2 - form is getting there, 30 reps total
1hand BB ohp 27.5kg 3x6
Rear delts
Squat 145kg x15 - hams were knackered after monday. will put the vid up when I can find my phone cable

Yesterday (Thurs)
DB rows 67.5kg 5x7, 50kg x20 (might start doing more higher rep sets)
Rear delts, BTNP 3x10, hang cleans

Today (friday night)
Felt like shit, eaten half of what i should have, loads of bullshit getting in the way of work.
Still…it’s was the last (and heaviest) squat session of this cycle.

Back squat 175kg 3x2 - good form etc. felt like going nuts
165kg x4, 155kg x6, 145kg x8, 135kg x10, 125kg x12, 115kg x14, 105kg x16, 95kg x18, 85kg x20

Holy fuck fuck fucking shit

114 reps

But you can do pretty much anything while listening to:

Well, looks like its going to be wet for the rest of the year. Going to do high rep KB swings instead of pushing the prowler

24kg KB swings x100
Military press 76.5kg 2x2 - totally blasted through this today
1 hand BB press 30kg 5x5
Pullups and rear delts

last wednesday

that was 145kg x15

This week is beef brisket week - give myself a break from liver every 4 weeks. and goddamn, do i nail it

Those are some impressive squats, sir.

Im working on my squats lately. Im up to about 80kg for about 6 reps, with plenty left in the bird-tank. I plan to be up to 100 in about a months time, and then a month after that Im going to do 20 reps of 100kg. Ill post it in you log first!

awesome - it’ll put feathers on your chest!

PM training, thought I’d mix it up and do some high-rep stuff

Medows rows 3x10
Rear delts 2x20, 3x25

Just couldnt get in the zone

Thursday morning:
Military Press 63kg 5x5 - beasted

1 hand BB ohp, 25kg 2x10
1 hand DB clean+press 1x5
DB row 60kg 8x8
high rep tricep and rear delts stuff

Thats just ridiculous.

How do you do your rows? On a bench? What angle is your torso at? How much rest do you take in-between sets?

tweet

  1. strict, standing perpendicular to a bench, resting one hand on it - allows for greater torso stability
  2. a few degrees off flat
  3. they’re usually supersetted with something, so anywhere between 30sec and 3 minutes

Hang Power clean 82.5kg 3x4, 90kg x2, 95kg x1 - really getting the hang of these. For extra badass points, I don’t put the bar down till I finish the set.
Military press 73kg 3x3 - felt strong, 40kg 3x12
DB row 55kg 5x12
DB C+P 35kg 3x3

felling pretty awesome today, perhaps I’ll deadlift this evening.

I have been scouting out places with solid surfaces to push my prowler when it’s wet - KB swings just aren’t cutting it.

So you dont rest a knee on the bench? Do your knees have a bend in them?
